Need help! metallic grinding noise on SC
I'm kind of getting frustrated about the supercharger's noise.
.......sounds like a metallic grinding that keeps repeating over and over again and I'm getting sick on that stupid sound. Are they normal?
should i return them for a quiet one. By the way i love the power it gives to your car though and also they're brand new installed and it's been one day old now. Thanks to all of you.

I see you have a Vortech. How close are you to the blower when you are listening for this sound? If you are in the car driving, you should not hear it at all. The blower has a natural "gravelly" sound if you listen up close. You can really hear it if you put a mechanic's stethoscope right on the blower housing.
BTW, the Comptech blower generally has an even louder gravel sound.

This one is loud! I can here it while i'm inside w/ invidia exhaust, top up and windows rolled up. When i pop the hood very much louder and it's coming from the inside of the blower big time.

You should compare it to other Vortechs. One of the more common mistakes on a supercharged car is the overtightening of the belt. This can lead to an early demise of the belt and the blower bearing. If this is the case, you need to attend to it soon. Wait till you see what kind of damage a s/c belt can do when it breaks at high rpm.
.......I can twist the belt between 1/4 to 1/2 inch and I'm checking them everydayuntil it hits 400 miles. Anyway, it seems the noise die down a bit or probably I'm getting use to the grinding or graveling sound of a SC....it's just that horsepower it produced.....it's amazing and love it so much. By the way...I did call the technical support from Vortech and said that they can exchange the blower w/ another one if the noise gets worse and he also said not to worry 'cause there's a three years warranty on all parts.

LOL there is a reason my wife calls my sc the noisey criket
My vortech was loud..I mean loud. And it wasn't a constant growl, it was like a motor getting turned over slowly...and intermitent growl if you will. If I took the car up over 2000rpm it was replaced by the whine of the SC, but under 2000 it was that grinding sound. The other Vortech in the area wasn't as loud as mine (I had a smaller pulley which I "hear" makes a differance) but it was still there.
