Default need help -- vortech electronics removed

I'm preparing my car for AEM EMS. I removed the two vortech electronic boxes and associated connections to the ecu wiring as well as the vacuum line t'd between the vortech FMU and stock FPR. I thought that this would be relatively painless as I had used male / female connectors when installing the vortech electronics. Of course the male / female connectors would not come apart so I cut the vortech wires and added a butt connector in between.

The vortech FMU remained enabled.

At this stage I wanted to make sure the car would start.

The car did not turn over and threw a cel. I double checked the wiring connections and restarted ... still would not turn over but it is now not throwing a cel. I disabled the vortech fmu by removing its' vacuum line but had the same results.

Is there anything else I should do differently or should check (other than the wiring connections which I may need to redo)? Is there a way to check if the wiring connections are working via some type of meter?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Doug

PS ... a word of advice to anyone installing the vortech SC electronics. Find a wiring harness to make your connections.

You may have a bad crimp on one of the critical butt connectors. Also, some of those wires that were cut and spliced look very similar to each other and it's hard to see the striping when you're in the foot well. It's possible that you put two ends together that don't match.

Check all the connections to the CKP sensor that was spliced into.
