Need an opinion here
Ok, I might get flamed for this post, but just looking for an honest opinion here. I sent my motor to Laskey Racing in the middle of October 06. It was supposed to be back at the shop by Nov. 1 06. It's still at Laskey Racing and when I call Mike (a super nice guy I might add) he says it's within a couple of weeks away. I don't have a garage and my car has been at indoor storage this entire time. My storage bill is about 1000$. This is a friend of mine's place and he didn't charge me for the first 6 weeks the car was there so I'm really lucky it's as low as it is. I've also missed a couple of shows I wanted to put my car in, not to mention not having back in time for the holidays or my birthday. Both of which were very frustrating for me. My question is this: Do you guys think I am entitled to a discount? I am on a thin line here, as I really feel I should have gotten this thing a long time ago, but on the other hand I know that Earl passed and that's gonna put a strain on everything quite naturally (Although that was a good bit after my ETA for the finished build). I don't want to come off as insensitive here and I think very highly of Laskey racing, which is why I want you guys opinions. Thanks for any advice guys.
I dunno what to tell you. I know when I dealt with Laskey, they returned everything to me when they said they would (6-8 weeks). I'm sorry to hear this, and I guess you are in a sticky situation. I guess I'd give them a couple weeks and then say something. I know how you must feel, but I'd give em some more time. Thankfully, I don't have any idea how long it takes to get back to normal after losing your father and friend. Sorry about your setbacks .
There a couple of things at work here. The tragic loss of Earl (RIP) and the fact that Benson has recently moved his shop from right around the corner from Laskey to Idaho. Assuming Benson has his new shop up and running at 100%, I would give Laskey a little more time. With Benson in Idaho, there are two more UPS transit intervals involved now.
Be patient. The time they gave you is an estimate. A lot of the time the delay isn't their fault (Benson, pistons, rods etc.) I was quoted the same 6-8 weeks but I ended up waiting nearly 4 months because of a rod backorder. Be patient and it'll be worth it.
Be patient. As previously posted, a lot has changed. The biggest factor being related to Earls passing. I have only good experiences with Laskey Racing, and hope you will too.
Give them some time, you will not be disappointed.
