Default New Axles

Quite a few months ago my car all of a sudden started making a clunking noise when my suspension flexed. A friend and I started narrowing down what it could be and finally decided that my Tein CS Coilovers had gone bad (just shy of 20k miles, about 10k of which were slammed). So, recently I purchased a new set of Buddy Club Race Spec Coilovers and had them installed. The night of installation I took the car for a spin through my neighborhood and the clunking noise was still there. So we pulled the car back into the garage & noticed that the springs in the rear were a tad bit loose - so we raised the rear top perches to put more pressure on the springs themselves. Took car for a spin and the clunking was still there.
The other night I drove the car out to Newport News and met up with Dave22 - good friend of mine. So he hopped in the car & we went for a spin. Gunned it through first and second and the sound was very noticable. Gave a look to him and he said, "thats not suspension, thats definitely driveline." So we pulled into the gas station and Dave crawled under the car, grabbed the axle and started tugging - said he figured out my problem. I looked under and everytime he gave the axle a tug it made the clunking noise.
Guess it is time for an upgrade. Right now my car is putting down 358.6whp & 203.2wtq - I am aiming for just over 400whp by next summer.
Does anyone have any good axle recommendations?

Driveshaftshop.com offers 2 Kits:
Stage 2 Rated for 350whp Priced @ $999
Stage 5 Rated for 600whp Priced @ $1599

Does anyone know of any others available? I know I can't be the first FI S2000 to break axles

Thanks In Advance

A better option would be upgrading the diff and shafts at the same time.

Nissan Diff conversion - bullet proof shafts and diff

I spoke to DiffTechnics a bit back. Their full complete setup utilizing Custom Aluminum Driveshaft, Skyline R33 Differential & 1,000hp Axles would cost just shy of $4,000 shipped to my door.

Here are the exacts :
"R200A rear into S2000 Honda Brackets, One pair of 1000HP C.V.'s, one Re-built Nissan rear (4.1 Viscous LSD) and one Aluminium Driveshaft including adapters to run universal joints"

We have a VW Beetle 1.8t with 360whp. In addition, we put DSS stage 2 axles thinking that would be enough. Well, it wasnt. We stripped the splines of the stage 2's in a matter of 2 weeks and now we are going to go the next step up. However, DSS is moving and they cant get them out until mid October.

Broke mine at the track last year chad...I thought it was the diff but it was my drivers side CV joint half shaft. I just bought a new CV from Honda for 240 or something...Let me know what you do i might need to go the same route...after next week. -Rob

Just an update for anyone who might be keeping an eye on this thread yesterday.

I gave Driveshaftshop.com a call to talk a tad bit about their Stage 5 Axle. Turns out that they are currently re-designing this axle so it is not available at this time. They asked me to give them a call back late November early December for an update.

I broke my axle at the track earlier this year too.
I have replaced it with the nissan 240sx diff. See the link in my signature for more information. I have no regret for doing this at all. It's the best mod I have ever done for the s2k! The diff and axles are really indestructible on the street and you can have so much fun without worry about the rear end.

K&A are still testing for the best material to use for the track to give the best strength at the cheapest price. The kit will be on the market real soon. Lookout for a group buy real soon

Well, with Driveshaftshop Stage 5 Axles being on hold for 2 months - I can definitely hang to see what K&A will offer

I'm eager to see the final results/pricing.
