Default NEW OEM HG with ip used HG?

After searchign the forums i've seen people talk about resuing the IP 3mm with a stock OEM HG.

Remove rivets on OEM gasket and sandwich it with a 3mm IP gasket.

Do I need to do anything to the IP gasket?

I have a 3mm IP gasket with zero miles on it. But for whatever reason didn't seal properly. so I really don't wanna drop $300 again for a IP gasket.

I have heard the same. I am going to closely inspect my IP HG and copper spray it. It has been perfect and still is now. I have no reason to believe it will fail with the same amount of torque applied a second time. I will let everyone know how it works out.

Thats exactly what i did when i got a used 3mm gasket from a friend. IP actually told me to just get an OEM gasket and do what you said. It has worked great for me so far.

Should this be done on a brand new gasket as well?
