New Release H11/L19 Headstuds
I haven't had a chance to come on here much as of lately. We've been working hard at releasing new products for the S2K community. We are constantly testing and trying to improve the weak points of the s2k motor. One problem I have found was the head studs. On the stock motor with stock bolts we were having problems keeping the head to stay down as we increased the boost pressure.
So the solution was obviously to use the standard ARP since that was the only option available. Now I am not sure what the tensile strength of the stock bolts compare to the ARP's (190,000psi) studs are but that only fixed the problem temporarily.
To make a long story short, we built the motor and made 802hp with 32 lbs of boost. Well, at 32+ psi we were still having head lift issues with a brand new set of ARP studs. I picked up the phone and called a few of the big companies who makes fastners for most of the top race teams out there, and this was back in November of last year.
Well after talking to A1 Technologies (the people making the headstuds used in Brent Rau's Motor) We proceeded to take measurements of the block and stock bolts and with their expertise, we designed a set for the F20c. The standard ARP studs has a tensile strength of 190ksi (190,000 psi) and the FBM/A1 H11(L19) has a tensile strength of 260ksi (260,000 psi). Another advantage is that these are 100% reusable.
So then the order was placed in December to get these studs made. These guys (A1 Tech) manufacture all types of fasteners for not only the automotive industry but also for air crafts. We knew quality parts takes time to make so we just waited patiently for them to finish. Fast forward to March, we get a call saying our studs are ready and will ship in the first week of March but due to supplies and material, only half of our studs will be shipping.
I’ve received quite a few Pms and emails after we had mention in our thread about making these studs last year. I usually don’t like to announce things unless we have the product in hand or I know 100% that it’s coming to us just because we cannot control how fast things are done ,so I apologize for not updating you guys.
Well, the good news is that I will have a limited qty of sets to ship tomorrow for sure!!.
Details..
F20c Head studs
-made from H11/L19 Tool steel made to handle 50+ psi (260ksi tensile strength)
-machined dog point on bottom for accurate torquing
-comes with washers/nuts and moly lube
-100% reusable
-proven in many applications running 50+ psi of boost.
List Price is going to be
$410/set

fresh set we would recommend torquing to...
Step 1 : 35ft lbs then 75ft lbs then back out
Step 2 : 35ft lbs then 75ft lbs then back out
What that does is burnish the threads and seats everything
Final step : 35ft lbs, 75ft lbs , and finish at 100ft lbs

Very nice LJ.
One word of caution with L19, DONT FINGURE F*** THE STUDS! In other words, just wear rubber gloves when you're handling them. You should put this on your boxes before shipping if you havent already LJ.
