Default oil pressure gauge

ive been searching on this for a while and couldn't really find a definite answer. i do check my oil level often. since my S is sc'ed and i have defi boost gauge, i am thinking about getting the oil pressure gauge. so, can anyone tell me if the oil pressure is related to oil level? ive read some where that oil pressure gauge is nothing but a nicer version of the dummy light. (assuming this isn't a setup for track use)

An oil pressure gauge will not tell you oil "level", at least not till you are down to about 2 qts on this car. As long as there is a constant supply of oil going through the oil pump, there will be "adequate" oil pressure. This does not necessarily mean your engine is safe.
No, an oil pressure gauge is just a "fancy dummy light". A person who understands what oil pressure readings look like at certain specific times, will get a tell-tale sign of impending doom. If you don't know how to interpret these "signs", then yes, it is just a fancy dummy light.

i was hoping youd say something xviper. i did read a post you wrote saying the exact same thing (about the 2 quarts still showing good pressure). guess we'll just have to pull that stick out every now and then.
