Default Over boosting?!?!?

My tune is set to 14.5psi and lately I have been noticing that my boost gauge is going past 14.5 and goes to ABOUT 18lbs. Since that is a lot of boost for 93 if I put a gallon of race gas just to up the octane slightly will it be okay. Or do I need to go back to my tuner and have him adjust my boost controller?

3.5psi is a fair bit more. It wouldn’t hurt to do to be safe, or have him check the tune. Since this is about detonation threshold and not boost amount per say, it’s really going to depend on how conservative he tuned your timing curve and the heat/driving conditions- if he accounted enough for boost spikes/movement. 18 at 93 octane is doable if everything else in the tune is well sorted. Call him up and ask him, see what his confidence level is.

He said he will take a look at it when he comes back. He is in Puerto Rico tuning During the dyno tune he said if we push the car anymore it is taking the car out of its safe zone.

18psi with that turbo is no joke. Hopefully your tuner retarded the timing accordingly for that boost level. What are you tuned on and what boost controller are you using? What's your boost cut set at?

I don't have a manual boost controller. It is the hondata boost solenoid. I'm babying the car until he gets back. Are you saying the If I turn it to 12 it will spike/hold 14 like it should?

lol It gives me whip lash! Im pretty sure he did. I am tuned on hondata Kpro. And I have a boost solenoid, I don't have the manual one. I feel dumb...I didn't ask him I was to excited to get my car back. I was assuming it was 14.5 but I guess not. Im going to find out.

If you turn the boost target down it may help. Also if you know the software you can go in and turn down the duty cycle on the solenoid. Boost cut will be set a little higher than your maximum boost target. Ex. My boost target is 13.5 and boost cut is set at 15.
