Default P0171 Running Lean

2006 international model with SOS Tuner kit.

I've had this code come and go for the past few months and I'm unable to figure out why. It started coming on about one month after the SC install.

When it's on, the car bogs and stutters and there's an apparent loss of power. The other day I changed my spark plugs and it went away for about a week immediately. Previous plugs were in bad shape. Thought this was the problem and was relieved. Yesterday I changed my coil pack plastic connectors because previous ones were destroyed, and shortly after, the code came back. I'm not sure this is related, but I think it might be coincidence. New connectors were installed properly, if they weren't I should start mis firing, but I'm not.

A couple of logs were sent to the tuner and he sees no issues. I checked for vaccum leaks, and I don't find any.

Where can I look next?

Now my best guess is an intermittent O2 sensor that could be on its way out. I'm considering changing my entire vaccum lines in case there's a pin hole somewhere that's hard to catch.

Any thoughts on this?

Did you get logs when the issue was present?
Also list all your non factory parts and what pulley you are running.

Yes, logs were sent when the CEL was on.

Today the problem has escalated to mis firing. Can't go over 5k rpm without the exhaust popping and the engine bogging heavy. I suspect my coils are going bad? Car has 142k KM and I've never changed them.

I checked the coil connectors today and they seemed fine. I even pulled the coil packs out and done a multi meter test and they all read around the same range of 1.2ohms.

Bought some carb cleaner to look for vacuum leaks later today and will report back if I find anything.

Is fuel system stock?
I'm thinking vacuum leak could be noticeable in log but not sure, would be interesting to check but I'm not that familiar with flashpro which I guess you are using?

Yes flashpro tuned. Walboro 255 and 1050 injectors with in tank FPR. I sprayed carb cleaner all over the place today and didn't find anything. I'm not sure either about the vacuum leak, tuner only suggested to check, didn't say for sure it's the issue.

I'm going to install some Chinese coil packs tomorrow to see if it fixes it. If it does I'll order new oem ones.

I changed plugs to one step colder BKR8 and the mis fire issue is sorted out. Ordered a new set K20 coils that should be here next week. This hopefully should resolve all the ignition issues.

Now I'm still left with the occasional running lean CEL.

Per Honda, check fuel pressure. If fuel pressure is ok, check and adjust valves.

I was going to say, the fuel pressure is something you want to make sure is in the proper working range and not having a sudden loss during these running lean CEL's you are getting. Maybe there is an issue with the fuel pump or fuel pump wiring/related causing the intermittent issue. You want to rule this out. With only 9psi, the stock fuel system of the 06+ DBW should be adequate to keep up. The less aftermarket stuff you have to run the better. There was an issue with Chinese counterfeit Walboro 255 many years ago which didn't flow properly. I got one. Not sure if they are still floating around.
