I have read of people doing this. They tried it to get rid of the wheezing sound when the car is idling. Some guy did it and said it worked successfully. Guess not...

Drilling out the PCV valve will only make the KV system work better. It will have no effect on your idle. I've had mine drilled out for over two years now. If your car is not idling right, something else is wrong.

fperra intresting info,
I spoke to the maker of the krank vent system he told me that the Krank vents were not designed to replace the pcv valve should not be drilled out because it will effect idle.

I drilled the pcv valve, out as a test (partly because of your posting many moons ago) and found that the idle immediatly went to 2500 rpm. i put a new one in and the idle lowered back down. the car seemed to run fine outside of that though.

In speaking to my mechanic (very expierenced with built s2000) he also said that the pcv valve should not be removed and could cause damage to the engine...

intresting to hear that you have not encountered similar issues... did you do adjust your tune? or did you simply never encounter this?

thanks

Never encountered the problem with either the stock ecu when I had the UR turbo kit or now, with the AEM ECU. Keep in mind that when the car idles the stock PCV valve is open, the same as if it was drilled out. It might have a little more resistance to flow, but not much.

abv ... I've experienced the same as you when using krankvents. With the PCV valve gutted my car idles around 2,000 rpms and with a functioning PCV valve it idles around 1,000 rpms. I believe it is in the tune as I have not had my car tuned with krankvents and a gutted pcv valve.

The krankvents appear to create more vacuum with the gutted pcv valve based on my non-scientific test of pulling up the dipstick and listening to the rush of air.

Are the Krank vents installed correctly? I know some have been put in backwards.
