Default PFab kit broken, going back to stock for now

Hey guys,

My PFab ELT manifold broke again and I'm just tired of messing with it for now. Pang offered me to return it to him for labor(I'm the second owner so I'm not covered under the warranty).. I think I might take him up on it and send in all of my parts just to see if he can make it fit better. When I first installed it the dump tube kept cracking as you'll see in the pics, I've had a local fab shop repair this thing about a billion times.. So Pang told me if my motor mounts are good this should solve the issue. My stock mounts appeared to be fine, but I replaced them with Megan/hardrace anyway. The motor is definitely A LOT stiffer now.. it barely budges, but the fitment of this kit is ridiculously close between the cyl 4 runner and the frame of the car. I received the kit with the dump tube clearly being modified.. if it's even PFab's original creation at all.. so maybe that's causing all of these issues.. I'm not sure. After I got the car tuned I was driving the 3 hour trip back and my downpipe literally separated from the turbo at a weld so I had to stay the night in a hotel in BFE Kentucky and have some local exhaust shop hook me up with a quick ugly weld to get it back on the road... so that's why the downpipe looks like shit.

Would you guys get PFab to fix this and see if that helps or do you think I should just go another direction manifold wise? Any suggestions?

I've actually thought about having him professionally repair it and still sell it just to see if the next owner has better luck with it.. maybe it's my car/setup.. I'm not sure.. Either way this first turbo build of mine has been a learning experience and it's taken a lot out of me at the same time.. Lmao

This is what happens when the fitment of the manifold, down pipe and everything is not spot on correct. If anything is touching the frame or rubbing on something you have problems. Looks like you need a new manifold setup. I have dealt with a lot of manifold cracking issues before I can guarantee you that if you try to fix or reweld that manifold it will break again in a very short amount of time. You need a new proper fitting manifold. Ideally some thing made with schedule 40 stanless piping and not schedule 10. I would recommend a full race manifold if u want a solid reliable manifold that will never break.

Yeah buddy, I thought the flex pipe and motor mounts would fix my issues.. but clearly something is going on that I'm not aware of.. kinda a shitty situation.. I know his products are good, but I wish I had just went with a sidewinder so clearance would never really be an issue.

Lude, was yours a brand new manifold from Pang? or was it a second hand manifold? I hope i don't run into the same probelm. My manifold has been around a long time from what i can find. I'm positive i'm the third owner of my use Pfab ELT manifold. And there was a small crack on one of the runners.

Lot of filling on this turbo flange
The hole in the flange is to big for the collector

For strong weld you need to have no gap between the 2 piece

Keep in mind I had this repaired locally before from a pretty crazy crack around the same area.. but the guy did a great job on it inside and out and cleaned it up/resurfaced the flange.. It held up for about 4000 miles after that (including two back to back 600 mile trips) but finally took a poop a few days ago during some spirited street driving.. lol.. I really wanna swap to a sidewinder, but I haven't seen anyone running the PFAB forward facing.. The sheepey manifold looks really nice and my buddy ran it with a vband collector, I'd obviously need a T3 one though... Oh well.. hopefully I figure something out.. Pang offered to fix this one but I'm almost positive it's going to continue to mess up no matter what gets done to it.

Look like pfap added some brace on the short side of the turbo flange

Flex pipe dont flex a lot the stock setup bolt+spring give more flex on my civic the donwpipe separate a few mm from the exhaust at full throttle

My S got a challenge ta-s modded in header back v-band straight to header+6" flex pipe

if a shake the muffler it pry my header a lot so made a brace that bolt to the tranny welded on the collector behind the v-band

Problem solved

I think your exhaust is acting as a 10 feet prybar
