Default Please recommend me a kit

I've been doing some research a lot lately as i want to go FI by this spring.

I'm mainly interested in either the vortech/comptech superchargers or the greddy turbo kit.

First of all, here are my specs:
Needs to be obd2 legal for emissions (no ems)
needs to be reliable (daily driven all season)
needs to be inexpensive (under 3k [used])
I want to use my existing 63mm testpipe and catback
I don't want to get a tune unless its in the price range (how much do they cost?; can supercharger kits be tuned out of the box or do they need some type of engine management like the vafc?)
I don't want to do any headwork/ headgaskets or engine internals

Basically I want to know which one will make my car faster.
I know the greddy would be better for daily driving as it provides a better low end and midrange, but the superchargers give more hp up top where it matters in a race.

Which one would be faster on my car from a 0-130mph run?

Also, I have heard some story about not being able to run a supercharger with testpipe unless you get a tune???

I don't mind getting a tune, i just don't want it to throw off my budget. I also have no idea where to get one in cleveland...
I want to spend the least cash as possible

Another thought is that me and a friend of mine (mechanic) will be installing this.

Which one would be better and cheaper to upgrade? Would raising the boost on a supercharger require a new headgasket? Can the greddy be cheaply upgrade? ive read that their max hp is about 300whp, while the sc kits put out that much stock...

Can someone give me some straight facts? im absolutely torn between the 2.

And yes i did search. I've read through many previous topics, but to many people have too many different factors such as engine work and more money invested that makes the comparison much harder.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

I am in the same boat as well. What is your budget? If you are not looking to spend more than $6000 than S/C is your best bet.

Have you looked into Science of Speed S/C kit>

budget is like 3k lol. im looking to hopefully pick up a used kit, install it myself, and not have to deal with tuning.

I would love the stage one tuning supercharger though, it sounds sick!

On a serious note, I would also advice you to stay stock, it will always get more expensive than first planned. I do not believe you can get to a good solution for 3k.

i agree with everyone 3k is just touching the surface. For example say you do find a used s/c for 3k. However not everything is included in the kit so you may have to spend another 500 or so for maybe a fmu, crank pulley etc. then you may say you want some gauges, which boost, oil presurre, and a wideband is recommended that will be at least 500. And then there is the clutch if you haven't changed that yet that will be another 600. So you should figure you should at least figure double of your budget. Most people way say they have spent between 6000-10000 for a properly running car. If you cut corners in any of the process you will be paying for a new engine. I know this may sound extreme and it may very well be, but the possibilities are there.

Just do a lot of searches in for sale forums and google searches for those three: Greddy turbo, Vortech S/C and Comptech S/C. You will be able to find a complete kit for less than 3K ( I found a Greddy for 2,100 without the fuel pump). But, like everyone else said, you WILL have to spend money on other things. I think I have about 3K-3500 in mine excluding my exhaust and HFC (since you already have the exhaust you want). It can be done, just look around and ask a lot of questions to the owner of the kit that is for sale to make sure that it is functioning properly and isn't missing any parts. You just have to hope you get a trustworthy person who won't lie to you about the condition of the kit.

Good luck!
