PPG helical cut synchro sets ?
Has anyone put in just the PPG helical cut synchro sets (1-6) in the stock transmission ?
Alot more reliable vs the OEM gears ?
PPG is asking ~$6K just for the gears and that seems like really high considering you still have to do the in/out work....vs used V160 + FB plate.

Used to be the only option so some people had done it. The problem is when something breaks in the built tranny there is such a wait time to get parts from Australia. Also, the problem with the S2000 is in the design of the case putting 2nd gear too far away from the support. This causes the shafts to flex and the gears to pull away from one another which leads to failure. Stronger gears are a band-aid and the V160 setup is superior in my opinion. Also 6k does not include the final reduction gear for $1200 which is also known to fail.
+ twin disk that goes with v160 plus all the mounts you need.. Real problem with the gears is the shaft in the stock trans is still weak and will still cause enough movement to still break gear.. Passman split his case in half. Situation like that the gear will do nothing for you.

Is the V160 the only real trans you can rebuild with or are there others that have been successful replacements ? I thought I read somewhere on here recently that was going to try another trans....can't remember what one though...
I almost completed a Z33 (350z) transmission swap but didn't finish it. ScorpioMK is using this transmission on his F20c in an AE86 with good success to this point. There are some individuals working on a t56 transmission, but I do not like this setup as it will have a hard time shifting at 9000rpm without faceplating (equivalent of a dogbox). There are also automatic th400 swaps out there and a few people running G-Force 5 speed transmissions.

How does the 350z price out and does FB make a conversion plate ?
The others don't sound like good equivalent replacements
Thanks
