Is anybody running this kit with some type of emissions legality (eg with a cat, at least)??? No way I can go through the process of failing emissions each month, only to be required to get tested the next month (and the next month, and the next next month, and the next next next month.... till as long as I sell the car - just keep failing each month, over and over) or potentially be fined. Maryland is adjacent to PTuning and I guess I thought someone would have stepped up to try a more emissions friendly setup by now. Emissions consists of an OBD2 check for CEL codes, and an under-chassis visual inspection (under hood not examined). Underchassis consists of looking for a cat, O2 sensors, and of course rust / major leaks. No tailpipe testing.
I ran an InlinePro on an AP1 to 430hp on pump (GT35). Tried a single 3" can (not complete exhaust) and gained 20hp. Ended up going back to the 2.25" dual, as the single droned and looked shitty (IMHO). That's the only comparison I have on turbo'd S - full 2.25" with cat vs. 2.25" with cat and 3" can. Obviously the gains would have been greater with a full 3" system, but never tested that on my old S. Going to be >20hp difference. But bottom line, $2500 into an exahust brings the total up near $15k - kit, Kpro, install, clutch and install, tuning. That's what I paid for my car.....
You can get a high quality 3inch dual exhaust from Asura for 995. Hi flow cat 150-250 range. There extension piece from turbo to cat for 100 or so. Not sure where you get 2.5k from. You can get a used system for cheaper also. I would stick with your stock exhaust if 20-40 extra hp does not thrill you. You will not get extra 75hp with just exhaust. Hell you can get something fabbed up from exhaust shop for cheap also. Or run your stock exhaust and get a boost activated cut out from sound performance. Problem solved.

I'd actually like to see some numbers with something close to a stock exhaust. The cost of the exhaust alone, including a hi-flow 3" cat, totals up to something like $2500 - a steep price to pay, but depends on performance difference. If it's 40hp or so, no biggie to me..... if it's 75+hp, then yeah, a big deal. But not knowing the difference between a 3" and 2.25" exhaust, I can not risk the purchase of the kit, only to find that to get decent peformance I HAVE to also purchase $2500 in exhaust pieces alone.

PTuning exhaust: $1400 (approx)
HJS Cat: $1000 http://www.hjsna.com/products/HJS-Hi...9095-0050.html
_____________
Approx $2500, total
I asked about this a few months back. Ptuning was willing to modify their cat-back exhaust to weld in a cat so I could pass emissions, for about $200. You'd have to ask them what the cost is today.
That's probably the easiest / best way to get a bolt-on solution to pass emissions. You could also pay a local fabricator to cut & weld your OEM exhaust so that it (and the OEM cat) can mate up to the Ptuning downpipe. That might get a bit messy, but it would save you the cost of having to buy a new exhaust & hfc.

Update: 8/16/11.......The engine, drivetrain, and PTuning Turbo Kit are completely installed in the car...! Speed Factory Racing had nothing but praise for the design of the kit, and in fact, commented specifically on how well everything fit together, that they didn't have any issues or hick-ups during the install, and that they finished the job sooner than expected.....So soon (2 1/2 - 3 day install including the PTuning exhaust, Full-Blown fuel pump, and Koyo radiator), that they already have other customers scheduled out on the dyno, and are booked up until Friday / Saturday....and didn't expect to be tuning the car until late this week / weekend.
From when I left this afternoon, all that remained to be completed was to finish up the wiring on the K-Pro system, and tighten down all the last remaining odds & ends / double check everything in the engine bay / connections etc.
Tomorrow, which will likely be the last day of assembly, will be the PLX Multi-Gauge, and attaching the necessary vacuum lines.
Rick....(the main installer of the kit).......said: "Someone spent a considerable amount of time & money designing this Turbo Kit". They also confirmed that the Trimming was Very Limited the only thing they had to trim was at the headlight bracket on the left & right side of the intercooler tubing, and NO Relocating ...(the main reasons I chose this kit).
I thought I would share his comments.
Here are a few updated pics:

.....looking forward to the end-result / tuning....!

Rob,
I appreciate the kind words regarding our kit. "I remember our talks, and how I was pushing the point to you that the kit was a full bolt on affair." All and all Rob it looks like your build is coming along faster then we thought from our last conversation.
I am looking forward to future numbers and videos!!
Thanks Drew.

You should be fine, just be nice to them when you pull in and make sure you aren't pulling any codes and you should be good to go.
