Smile Pulley and Exhaust Combination with CTE S/C

Hey everyone! I haven't posted in a while as I've just been enjoying the car but have recently decided to go with the CT-E base kit (no standalone) for California emissions reasons. My questions are would it be best to do a 60mm tp and catback like the tanabe medallion or 70mm with greddy spectrum elite. I saw it debated a lot in older threads the benefits of 60 vs 70 with a supercharger but still remained unclear. I also considered running a 7psi pulley but concerned that there wouldn't be enough fueling adjustment without a standalone ecu and tune. This was also discussed in old threads but I assume it may be different now that CT switched from the novi 1000 to 1220sl. I'm thinking 70mm with the 7psi pulley would be the best power without having to do any major tuning. The pulley and testpipe would also be easy to switch out for emissions. Opinions?

Also my car has 64k miles and the oem clutch seems strong. Do you think it'll hold at this power level?

Thanks in advance

Personally i wouldn't spend the money to get a 1 psi higher pulley. The small amount of gains you would see without a tune would be slim. As far as the exhaust goes there isn't substantial data saying that any one cat-back is better than the other but the most important mod would be the test pipe to relieve the restriction on the engine / supercharger.

Unfortunately, with our cars if you want more power you'll have to do the supporting mods like engine management, clutch, and fueling.

I disagree. I think it's worth it as the pulley is only $90 (at least SOS') and it's a rather simple swap. I went from 6 psi to 7 psi on my SOS base kit and have sufficient fuel (hard wired fuel pump as well), while still running the FVM or the piggyback included with the SOS kit. $90 and some labor for ~15 HP gain is a pretty good bang for the buck if you ask me.

I would just do a TP, and keep the stock exhaust. As for the clutch, I originally installed my SOS 6 psi kit on my 2005 with stock clutch and soon after, noticed that it would start slipping in 3rd gear while in the upper RPM range. As a result, I upgraded the clutch 800 miles later. Some people didn't have issues with the stock clutch at 6 psi, while some did.

Which CTE kit would you buy? I think their "newer" ones come with a pre-programmed piggyback unit that lowers VTEC and etc, whereas the older (i.e., used) kits didn't.

The oem clutch will hold 280ish whp for a while, but be ready to replace it. Id go with a 70mm or larger for exhaust.

Thanks for the info everyone! I'm kinda considering just doing the clutch too since I have access to a lift currently but won't in a few months. Hmm

I would be buying the newest version of the Ct Engineering kit. How did you like the kit overall?

But how do you get past smog testing?
