^ Yep, you are correct. I already had the greddy sandwich from my prior SC install so i used it. If i didn't already have it, i'd probably have used one of the extra ports like you're talking about. I would not use the one on the plate that actually attaches to the block. It's too close to the turbo.

I have extra ports on my ultimate racing oil relocation kit.

There is air flow. May not be optimal but for right now it's safe. If my car was a track only car then I'd put it by the front bumper but if there is a leak such as the one I just discovered where the cooler somehow is leaking through a seam, i would never know or find out on a timely manner, as I would be too lazy to take out the bumer to check periodically.

but I think the confusion is that yes the adapter that screws onto the block has one 1/8" port. But the filter mount has 2 ins and 2 outs. Naturally as I said before you'll run one line in and one line out so you'll have 2 spare ports in the filter mount.

You can kind of see one of the sensors just to the right of the oil filter, and the other one is right below the one on top.

I looked at this again tonight, and the adapter only has one small tap for a sensor for oil pressure, oil temp, etc.

There are two large plugs that are unused, but if I decide (and I will) to add an oil cooler then those will be used.

Luckily, my mech had a T fitting he put into the block where the stock oil pressure sensor was located and connected my oil pressure sensor up there.

I much preferred to plum into the filter mount as opposed to T-ing into the adapter. Besides I wanted to hook up oil psi and temp so I need 2 ports.

but keeping all that stuff as away as possible from that heat area was my preference.
