Default question abo 3 mm headgasket for lower comp ratio.

Ive been reading up on ways to lower the comp ratio of the s2k engine. Ive seen that many people suggest a 3mm head gasket? This makes sense but doesnt that mean that it increases the quench distance which increases your chances of detonation? If im wrong, im sorry, im just confused about it. Thank you

Good question. I don't know if F20 piston crown/head gap has any quench zone to speak of around the perimeter or not.

The piston actually reaches into the head on the F20C and F22C.

Maybe Cody meant that you will lose too much low end, but i think you won't notice it much.

I have the 3mm InlinePRO gasket and the car runs very well. In fact, as long as I keep my foot out of the turbo, the car runs like stock.

The only thing is that taking 6mm out of the timing chain makes it real tight.

Yes, i am running an inline 3mm as well (car not finished yet). The timing chain is pretty much maxed out.
