Default A question about head gaskets

Hello S2Ki Members

When i was cruising on my turbo'd s2k the oem fan stopped working and caused engine overheating which caused all water went outta the tank. I took the car to the local honda dealer and replaced the fans with new ones and i found that the car is still overheating on boost and normal when cruising. a day by a day the car started to get overheadted on cruising.

I bought a thermostat and the problem still there. I did some tests and found that the headgasket dyed..

I contacted Ya @ inlinePRO asking for another one and he replied with the price + shipping fee...ect then he stopped answering my PMs i dont know why!

Anyways, I changed my mind and i think am going to buy Cometik 3mm headgasket instead of inlinePRO. When i surfed their website i found that they only offer 3mm headgaskets with 89mm bore and my engine bore is 87mm. Will that work for me or not? one of my friends told me that there is no problem if the HG bore is bigger.

What do you think guys? I'm waiting for your answers ASAP..

Thanks alot in advance.

they should have 3mm headgaskets for stock bore... I had one, I'm sure a sponsorr can get you one if you can't find one on your own... mine lasted 20k+ miles from cometic, so even tho it's Alot cheaper than inlinepro's hg it's still a quality headgasket.

You dont have to buy another IP 3mm HG. All you have to do is pull the gasket off the 3mm spacer and get a new OEM HG and split it, remove the thin middle spacer and put the 3mm spacer in its place. This will only cost around $60.

I've done it twice and Ya at IP will also tell you to do this. It's how IP makes the gaskets. The only difference is they rivet the OEM gaskets onto the 3mm spacer for shipping, but you dont have to do this. You just drop one half of the OEM gasket onto the block and then the 3mm spacer and then the second half of the OEM gasket and put the head on. Mine is this way and I am near 700 whp right now.

SCE have a 2.4mm copper headgasket with built in O-rings. I'm currently running it and it's fine. I blew my 3mm twice, but that was probably a tuning issue rather than anything to do with the headgasket.

I'm running the SCE 2mm with STOCK head bolts.. 11,000 miles and currently at 18 psi on 91 pump!

The key to stock bolts as well as studs is proper installation IMO.
