Default Question about tuning

I was wondering about tuning of Comptech SC on 7lbs on the boost dependant setup. Can you have it tuned with a wideband or do they just run the sniffer dohickey since I have the stock computer...

I went this week to Church, and they used the sniffer in the drivers side tailpipe. Just wondering if this is what everyone gets?

I still got to put my new fuel pump in this weekend and then go back to the dyno.

Thanks guys for your input

But I heard that a sniffer isn't that accurate.. Am I wrong? Everyone says they tune their car with a wideband. I'm confused

the sniffer they used at my dyno was very accurate. some tuners may not have that good of sniffers but i know if it is a good one it is highly accurate

Sniffers are just as accurate as your wideband, or just as inaccurate if they are not setup right. The problem with sniffers is that they show A/F after the fact, because it takes time for the gasses to leave the cylinders and travel to the tail pipe. A good tuner can compensate for this delay, but most don't.

Good post...very informative. Can any tuners chime in? I am currently debating on whether or not to get the UEGO for this very reason.

Very true. It would be interesting to get more info about this. When they put the "sniffer" in my pipe it was on the drivers side pipe and they stuck it in and would a wire around the piece that was hanging out of my pipe...

A wideband would be an actual o2 sensor that they would have to screw into the exhaust etc correct?
I wonder why people say you got to get it tuned by a wideband when in fact most don't tune with it unless you have and EMS? (pure speculation on my part)

not to go too far off topic... but for an N/A car... what is a good A/f to keep your car at? I have been used to the FI world with their more conservative settings.
