Question for anyone with a Forced Induction S2000
So being that Im in the market for an S2000, I went to the dealership today and took a brand new 05 for a test drive. And I got al over the little car!
I dont think the poor little sales dude knew what he was getting in for when he got in the car.
I ran it to about 7.5k through 1st and 2nd, and 3rd, had it up to about 105mph, and I loved the car, it handled great, drove smooth, and fit me very well. but just one problem the car had no power!!!
It wasnt at all what I was expecting, I was not at all impressed with its speed and power. But then, I've never owned a car that didnt have a v8.
So my question is, were you happy with the performance before you added FI to your car? I think(hope) it will be alot better with a turbo or supercharger kit, but I was curious of your guys first impressions with the car. What this really comes down to, is I need to test drive a car with a supercharger or turbo kit. Anyone close to me want to let me drive there car? PLEASE!! haha
So how much better is it after boost?? just a little bit? or night and day. Thanks!

Its like a whole new world.
VTEC has a competly different meaning if you put on a SC. Its like la di da, VTEC, OH SHIT!!!!!!
Then when you add some more stuff like a smalled pulley it gets even better, you don't believe its your car anymore cause it just goes so fast. At any RPM's the car MOVES with boost, and you got a whole 8,000 of them.
Definetly 100% worth every penny.

FI is definitely awesome with a S2K and a night and day difference over NA. SC has a great kick with my experience with 9spi but if you are used to done up V8's then you might be happier going turbo for more power and having it lower in rpm's. Either way is lots of crazy fun

I was pretty happy with the car when it was stock, but after putting the turbo on, I was like "holy shit". It made a huge difference. Power comes on so much harder and so much earlier than before, to me that is the best thing about turbo'ing the S. By ~5k rpm's you feel like you are already pulling harder than a stock s2k at 9k rpm's. and you're not even in vtec yet

i know exactly what you mean by saying the car lacks power. i came from 2 supercharged V8 myself (00 GT & 03 Cobra), and it's a totally different kind of feel.
i believe the main reason that you felt the car lacks power is that it doesn't have low end torque like the V8s do. so, unless you turbo the S, the car will still lack low end torque regardless.
now to answer your question, yes, i was very happy with the car's handling ability and build quality when it was stock. and now i love the car even more after it's SC'd.

Well, I've never had a supercharged V8, I've had a 89 mustang 5.0, and I currently drive a lexus SC400 (big heavy tank of a car, but decently quick). And the S just didn't pull. I down shifted to pass a car doing about 65, and ran it from about 6k to redline, and it just slowly wound up, didn't put me back in my eat at all. My SC weighs about 3600lbs and is rated at 250hp and 250 tq, when I pass a car in it, it puts me back in my seat, and i'm doing 100 before i know it. I think your exactly right, its the torque that I'm used to that the i4 just doesn't have. I really need to drive a Sc'd car before I buy one of these. I definitely would prefer a turbo, but the amount of tuning required, and reliability issues are forcing me to look more towards an SC.
