Default Questions about a tuner

Hey, so to start off I am in far west Chicago burbs and there are not a whole lot of experienced S2000 tuners out here. So after a ton of searching I found a guy who was willing to tune my car which is finally getting a turbo. Now the issue is that he says he won't guarantee any work as I have an emanage. Is this fair? And what are the chances my car actually blows up lol? I'm not trying to push any crazy power I'm just gonna be running around 12psi of boost. And if anyone knows an experienced tuner in west Chicago I will be glad to go through them.

For the minimal times i have had to deal with different tuners, some require a leak down and compression test prior to taking the car on to tune. They want to be sure motor is in a healthy condition. Also, ive been asked if i want to squeeze out every hp possible or if i want a good tune with some margin. These to me are fair questions. As far as guaranteeing nothing bad will happen, i dont know too many out there willing to say 100%. But i would want some concurrence from the tuner that they are comfortable with what they are about to accomplish.

Definitely go to a tuner who knows his stuff even if you have to travel for 10 hours.

Even a e tune from a well respected tuner is better then a dyno tune from someone that knows lil.

The no guarantee comment is probably because most tuners do not like piggyback engine management systems. They prefer kpro, haltech, or aem.

Id suggest picking up a Aem 1012 ( $500ish used ) or 1052 or Series 2. You will have an overall better tune and make more hp safely.
