Default questions on boosting

Hey fellas,

I have a few questions, I'm getting a used s2k for a really good price and its the ap1 so its the 2L, now I've done a search and realized the ap2 is better for boosting (guessing because more displacement) but my question is, is the ap2 that much better for boosting? If my hp goals are around 600whp does it really matter which engine I boost? Since the 2L has been out longer is there more of a selection for aftermarket parts?

Thanks for your input, I used to have a 350z with juice but no boost so I'm not too familar with hondas or boost even tho my current car is boosted (335i)

yeah keep your BMW.. why buy the S2k? I have an AP1 and I like it alot but its really expensive to build up.. why did you get rid of the 350Z ??? if you are looking for a fun car to build up do a 300zxTT and you don't see much of them around anymore.. as far as the AP2 and engines go the 2.2 has been out longer then the 2.0 but in all honesty there the same engine other then the cam's are different as well as size of crankshaft..

A Z32 is NOT a fun car to build...lol... that engine bay is a headache just to look at, let alone work on. And finding a mechanic that likes/knows the engine/car well isn't too common either. The car and parts on it are really old! I like the car, but not fun to build up at all. I used to own one

The 2.o has been out longer in the S2000 than the 2.2.

ok I have a ? how many years was the 2.0 in the S2000 vs the 2.2 that is why I said that the 2.2 has been out longer.. As far as my input about the Z I was just making a statement that there are other neat older imports out there.. hell a Turbo MR2 is an awsome car too and cheaper to build up.. And as far as old parts LOl look at our S2000's .. mine is 8 years old. So that shouldn't make a damn difference. For an 8 year old car the parts are as expensive as a 15 year old TT Supra.. I was just tring to help the guy b/c he sounds like he like's to have fun with his car's.

why dont u just add more boost to your bmw, that car can crap on the m3 by only spending a few grand on the car, dunno why bmw did this but its awesome anyway, you can make 600 on either the 2.2 or the 2.0, and the setups would be like identical, the 2.0 was 99-03 and the 2.2 is from 04 and up, but those stats are for the U.S.

Well I already have my 335i chipped with the JB2 but its my DD so I don't want it too aggressive like my Z was.

The reason I wanna build an s2k is because, 1 I'm getting one for real good price, and 2nd it seems like a good project car to drive on the weekends.

The parts do seem pricey, same goes for the supra but a tt supra with low miles are rare to find not to mention really expensive.

One more question would the stock HG be ok with that much power if the rest of the internals are low comp.

Thanks again,

-Frank
