Default Recommended Spark Plugs for FI

I read that prior to tuning, it's a good idea to replace my spark plugs. My friend here recommended me to get spark plugs that are two steps colder. The one that he recommended, NGK BRK8EIX, has probably been discontinued. I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Can anyone recommend anything equivalent?

Thanks for the input!

That'd be BKR8EIX, or NGK 2668s

the one Jin mentioned is iridium plug, not copper. i would rather not get copper one. it might perform better, but the lifespan is too short.

Most tuners will recommend the one mentioned above. Evans suggested it for me so that's what I'm running and I've had no problems so far in the last year.

just a thought, if a iridium tip breaks off, you will have more damage than if a copper tip broke, turbo applications pending how you drive, spark plug will be changed more so than a non boosted car anyway...copper ngk v powers

I use NGK copper "v-power" plugs too... R5671A-8. They're cheap and work fine thus far.

most of the "R" ngk plugs are non resistor and can cause funny things to happen.. not always but they can.

As far as something breaking.. if you break a spark plug you have bigger issues than the plug being broken. And 90% of the time the porcelain will break first and thats harder than anything in your engine.

I run R5671A-9 (5238) Never had an issue. I change them every 2-3k miles. Great plug for the money. Average price to change all four is around 9-$10.
