Default Removing the Vortech BOV "Packing"

I have heard people say that if you remove the BOV "packing" for the Vortech SC, that the BOV sounds louder and better. I tried a quick search, but it didnt come up with anything. Can somebody explain how to do this and/or give me a link? Thanks!

I think they are talking about the filter that goes on the end. There is nothing that I am aware of inside the BOV that you can take out and have it still function properly.

So you just remove the filter and this causes the BOV to be louder? Thanks!

Yup, the filter muffles the sound...it's like taking the top of the stock airbox off, only you don't lose power

It has to do with the CARB legalities. You can't have anything just vented with out some sort of filter and be CARB certified. Other than that, if you BOV is pointed up, it keeps things from falling into it.

Filter is there to keep dirt out of the BOV.

So by removing the filter, would it be any type of concern of really getting anything into there? Thanks a lot guys!

If you install the BOV with the outlet down, Dirt from the road can get inside.

There are plenty of BOV's (Tial 50mm, most all Turbo XS, Etc. ) that have no filter.

You want it to be louder, pull the filter off.
