Default Running a cutout

Question for people who are running one. I went to inline pro to talk to them about doing my downpipe/dumptube and running a cutout. I have a jegs switch actuated one and they said it will hit the rail, also to get a stainless steel y pipe instead of mild steel which is what I have. He recommended the boost cutout but damn it's like 400.

I think mild steel can rust. :-(

yeah I will buy the stainless steel one off of summit racing. The boost cutout though I would like to do without and just stick to the one I have. Hopefully I can have it moved closer to the turbo and make it work.

I'm building my own boost activated cutout similar to the Sound Performance! It's actually very easy!

Trackforged made a boost activated cutout/test pipe with a wastegate. Won't make noise like the butterfly type or jam closed or leak being that the wastegate was designed for exhaust gases to be passed through. I also think its cheaper then sound performances cutout. Good luck. Hope I helped.

Came in here about to mention the same thing, I think this is a nice, creative idea, and at a good price as well, definitely worth your time to at least give it a look imo

a simple controller (or maybe timed relay) on a electric cut-out would do the same as the boost activated one.
Probably faster reacting to open and would stay open between shifts.

All for less than 50 in parts probably...
maybe i got another new project..

I have the first prototype one that trackforged made and LOVE it!

The wastegate opens up around 3psi and I can literally cruise on the highway going around 80 with the gate closed and SILENT. Plus, from the dyno graphs, it is obvious that the cutout works and gets numbers too!

I definitely recommend anyone interested in boost cutout to go this route. It is definitely cheaper than the SP boost cut out, which does not include a testpipe OR even a Y pipe (Y pipe is around $75 extra). All costs/aspects considered, I'd say its worth every penny!

The only thing I was wondering with the trackfordge setup is that the opening for the dump is so small. I'll take another look at it.

Ik :/ I have the same reservations about the trackforged piece.

I really wish they'd do a back to back test for us. Open 3" DP vs their evac pipe w/ an exhaust behind it. On a car that makes 500+ whp

If it can handle some serious power they would be selling them faster than they could put them out, especially at half the price of the competition (the SP valve is proven to make just as much power as an open pipe)
