Running to rich
After a few tuning sessions with the Emanage, I am still throwing a CEL every couple days for running to rich. P0170 and P0172. It only happens at lower RPMs and under light throttle when the car hesitates a bit. I was wondering if this is normal with the Emanage or with any piggy back unit?
I am still trying to get the tuner to send me a new map that runs a bit leaner down low, but are there any damaging effects form the car throwing these CEL's every couple days? Are the plugs going to fowl or are the sensors going to go bad?

Both things are going to happen eventually.
The CEL only occurs in low RPM's I believe. It also only shows that when it's running pig rich.
It doesn't happen with just any piggy back unit, it's a problem with the tune/tuner and not the unit.

The P0172 stores when the PCM is seeing that the Fuel trims are out of range. The PCM is adding more fuel based on 02 feedback that what it "knows"is acceptable. I know you are still usiing the FMU and stock injectors with the E-manage. I'm guessing you're adding a bunch more fuel below 5K, as well as having maxed out injectors with the High fuel pressure.
I ran RC440's and never had any Fuel metering codes. You need to watch the STFT and LTFT when adjusting the fuel maps to keep the stock PCM happy.

I wish I could find a better tuner near me, but there isnt much around. I want to swap to 550's and 9 psi soon, do you think Ill have probelms than? Better yet, is it ok to drive around another month or so like this?
ACTUALLY, I do get the same code from time to time under partial throttle. I'm running E-greddy w/ 550's and AEM FPR.
Thats besides my leaning out problem above 7500...
Since we are on fuel topic, the AEM blue FPR, does anybody know what the max capacity is? it is suspected that tahts why my car is leaning out...

It can. Most people use an adjustable FPR for anothertuning variable.
I think you may be confusing a FPR and a FMU. They are similar in function, but not the same.
The AEM FPR isn't causing a lean condition, unless the pressure is set extremely low.
You have to keep in mind the e-manage is a piggyback unit. It is sending false input signals to the PCM to get a desired output. The PCM is pretty quick to figure out when it's being lied to.
The most common DTC's caused by the e-manage maps are P0172, P0171 and a P1106. The P0171 and 172 are for fuel metering, rich and leaner than expected. The P1106 is for Baro sensor out of range.
It takes a OBDII scan tool hooked up at the same time you are tuning the E-manage to verify the PCM isn't being "Lied too" out of an acceptable range.

My car was running an A/F ratio of around 15. Comptech believes this has to be a faulty reading although my spark plugs look as if it could be possible. The odd thing is that it is only throwing the P1106 code and not giving me the lean code. Is it normal under that lean of a condition to not throw a code?
