Plan on finishing tucking and shaving my engine bay this winter.. Looking at an ABS relocation solution, is it worth it to grab this kit? or should I just buy some stainless line and make my own lines with -AN fittings?

I've been looking into this myself.

It would be nice to have it all premade and just hooking the lines up. But how much money would it cost to make your own?

It wouldn't cost 500 bucks worth, I can tell you that. You are paying for the convenience of it all, Rywire makes good stuff though, and for some people it's perfect.

The tools and the brake line would be less than $100 bucks I'd say. Your not going very far, just keep in mind you want the lines to be as equal as possible, you don't want one going further than the other.

 

what siadam said! their products are nice and have great customer service.. i paid for a milspec harness on my hatch from them cost me over $700 at the time. my friend chose to look at mine and work with stock one cost him less then $100 and hrs of work lol... i know for the hatch his brake lines ran him about $120 to make his own..i say if you have time give it a try, worst case wont loose much, and can still order rywires if you decide its to much for you... dont forget, post some pics when you start

 

the only issue is I dont know MUCH about brake systems, like is there a fitting I can use to convert the master cylinder fittings to regular AN line? and can I just use any -an line to do it? I am considering doing it my self for sure, but just want to know if just any -an line will work so I can just buy a bunch of feet of it to cut and install my own fittings on..

 

yeah^ they make a brake adapter fitting to use the -3AN Tube nuts. You will need a 37 degree double flare tool and dont cheap out on the 3/16 tubing benders. The best one I've used is the NOS brand off of ebay because it allows you to make tight radius turns. Also you will need a tubing cutter but those you can get cheap from like home depot or lowes. The brake line that I used was 3/16 SS brake line from summit(20ft roll) and after you do your bends you can polish it out and it shines nicely. I did the brake tuck on my S so Im sure the ABS tuck wouldn't be hard at all

I wonder how hard it is to bleed the ABS system? I'm sure its a lot different than just bleeding brakes.

 

looks like the hoses are rubber? wouldnt this possibly cause a little less braking ability? less pressure etc?
