Default S/C use without cold air box

I took my Comptech intake box out because evertime I clean the filter, the dirtiest spot is always right where the hood prop cut out is. Theres always a line of dirt on the filter there. I figure the intake box is to restrictive.

Any negative effects from doing this? Im sure Im picking up hotter air at idle, but Im guessing there will be enough cold air getting to it as the cars moving, besides, I figure the aftercooler is taking care of most the hot air anyway. Is there a greater chance of water dripping onto the filter?

Also, what size or part number K&N would fit the Comptech inlet pipe? I think I saw a few guys using them a while back.

With the exception of drawing in Hot, unfiltered air.

So you guys are running the blower without a filter? Is there any risk in that and where can I get that attachment a "Venturi"?

That venturi is a bad idea without a filter IMO....other than hot, unfiltered air coming through, imagine if anything such as a small rock (or any object for that matter) gets sucked in and hits the impeller rotor! CRUNCH! You can kiss the blower goodbye!

Eri_S2k, I'm not doubting you when you say that your car is running fine with that setup, but that just seems WAY too dangerous for a daily-driven street car.

That looks really sick, but I wouldn't have the balls to drive with that everyday and take a chance of having a rock or a small child get sucked into the impeller. It looks damn good though

A rock...or a small bird or sand.....

Don't worry about the dirt on the filter. If you are, the best way to avoid hood prop dirt is to put a piece of duct tape over the hood prop hole.

Yeah Im putting the box back on soon. I havent noticed any differnece, except for the intakes louder now. Im getting hood dampers soon anyway so I can remove the hood prop and seal the hole.

BTW do I have to go through the fender well to reach that one screw with the funny metal attchment on it back on?

I live near the shore, I'd never run that setup. I'm always vaccuming sand out of my intake.
