For 500 bucks I'd take it to a welder and have them tig weld it, then get some bushings to asorb vibrations.

This a a pretty common occurance with the early Comptech brackets. Davepk was the 1st car with a comptech SC, and ended up with a cracked cylinder head. The early SC's where good beta testers for what didn't work.

Welding it back together isn't going to be an cost or time effective repair. You'll have to strip all the anodizing from the aluminium 1st, then weld them back together. Then find isolator bushings, and have the bracket machined for them. After that, pray it doesn't break again.

The new brackets are rubber insulated allready, and appear to be quite a bit thicker than the originals.

i also had this same problem, and like someone stated earlier, it cost me right at $500 for a new one. My crack looked identical to yours, and 2 days later developed one across the "S2000" logo on the right. It happened on my trip to Alabama where I was getting my car tuned (2 states away). Luckily it held together when I installed the new pulley, got it tuned, and made it back home.

Good luck, hopefully they'll replace it...wish they would have replaced mine.

Dave

New development:

Matt,

The parts you need are part of an update kit which sells for $495.00. These parts are unavailable until early next week. Would you like me put these parts on order for you? I

f-ing weak man. Did this problem show itself prior to the 2year agreement ending with anyone? It seems faulty engineering on their part, and they should replace it for free...

Call Hardtopguy. They sell the brackets cheaper most likely.

I agree completely. I wrote back saying what if I hadnt noticed it and the bracket failed completely causing engine failure or worst, an accident. We'll see what he says back, most likely i'll have to buy the new one. WEAK!

Hope it works out in your favor, it didn't for me to my chagrin.

I wouldn't count on any warranty. Especially when they allready gave you a price for new brackets.

It's highly unlikey a cracked bracket is going to cause an accident, or an engine failure. They have allready broken, there isn't much worse it can get. Most aftermarket performance parts carry no warranty at all.
