Over the past 6 years, we've sold nearly 200 of the ScienceofSpeed Big Bore Throttle Bodies. The ScienceofSpeed Big Bore Throttle Body is an excellent option for supercharged, turbocharged, and naturally aspirated cars. The throttle bodies have been independently dyno proven to produce 12+ wheel horsepower on supercharged and turbocharged S2000 and nearly 6 hp on stock naturally aspirated engines.

For our forced induction customers - this past year, we sought out to improve the design of the factory throttle body. The factory throttle body was designed for natural aspiration. The shaft of the throttle body is not sealed from the factory. The design relies on the close tolerances of the shaft in the body for an "almost perfect" seal. This "almost perfect" seal produces boost leaks, and seepage when methanol is injected into the throttle body. The leaks are minor, but noteworthy. In order to make this "almost perfect" seal perfect, we redesigned the throttle body to add o-ring seals on the shafts. This insures both boost leaks and liquid leaks are eliminated. The ScienceofSpeed Big Bore Throttle Body is the only throttle to incorporate this design, and features other important design aspects such as a tapered throttle blade and flush mount hardware for the best flow.

ScienceofSpeed has 2000-05 as well as 2006-09 throttle bodies now available.

This is the first I've heard of this. $240 for 12hp, doesn't seem too bad.

Do you need our MAP and throttle position sensors? Or can we just take them off and you send us one with out as well?

I need to get around to doing this as I have a spare TB laying around to swap.

The TPS sensor comes calibrated and pre-installed. The MAP sensor is used from your existing core. Installation is very easy (15-20 minutes or less).

Does it effect MPG or idling?

There is no appreciable effect on mileage, and idle is no different than stock.

Something like this coupled with a decent flowing intake manifold would be a nice upgrade.

Hey, I just got a SOS throttle body and I'm kinda worried about the screws that hold the plate in place coming out... If they were to unscrew they would go into the intake and then end up in the engine. I think they would be better if they were going from the front the the back. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Is there anyway to change it?

Why would they unscrew? I think you are being a bit too paranoid.
