Default Setting Rev Limiter in AEM EMS

I'm hitting the dyno again on Thursday and want to up my rev limiter to 9100 rpm. In the setup menu for the rev limiter I have the fuel cut set at 9200 rpm and the ignition cut set to 9100 rpm. Fuel cut load is set to 25.1 psig and Retard Limit load is set to 12000 rpm. Also, the 2Step Input is set to Switch is Always OFF.

With these settings on my last visit to the dyno, the limiter was still cutting in at the stock setting of about 8900 rpm. What else do I need to do to reset the rev limit to the new value? I'm guessing I've missed something in the Options menu.

My fuel map goes out to 9200 rpm, so that's not it.

fperra, how did you get the impression that it cuts off at 8900? Is this from the laptop or the tacho?

log your rpm and see when it actually cuts off
the stock tacho migh not be accurate fperra and gave you the false impression that rev limit was at 8900

I did log it on my last dyno run and no matter what I set the rev limiter to, it always cut at 8900 rpm.

I'm also having another problem that just started. I can't download my i nternal logs. It starts to download and it gets about 1/10th of the way through and it gives a checksum message and kicks the EMS off line. Anyone have any ideas on this? Laptop logging sucks because it's too slow.

hmmm not sure what the cause is to be honest.
what is your af at 8900? It's not too lean/rich is it? Too lean/rich can give you these problem but other than that I am not sure what caused fixed 8900rpm rev limit.

I have similar logging problem once in a while too. Log download sux with the aem compare to motec. Motec log download is instantaneous.

Dont know if this could be it, but, when I change my inputs I always have to hit enter twice to change the value.
You will notice if your rev limit is at 8900 and type 9100 and dont hit enter twice, it will return to 8900rpm.
Just a thought.

No, that's not it, but maybe this is. If you go to the menu for Setup/Rev Limiters/Main Rev Limiter/Main Rev Limiter Wizard, it pulls up a selection box with a choice of 11 levels from 0 (soft cut) to 10 (hard cut). Maybe if I select hard cut it will do the trick. Is anyone familiar with this menu and can explain what the different levels mean?

It was introduced/covered in the 1.11 conversion notes pdf.

It should be set to Hard for the Main rev Limiter (page 6) (There only two options in version 1.11)

Version 1.19 has the larger selection (0-10) of presets, they are however not documented as a change in the conversion notes. They change the same parameters as the v1.11 ones.

NOTE :Although the "standard" version of 1.11 only comes with two options, if you update the wizard file you will get all 11 (0-10)

Thanks PSC. I never did a conversion to 1.11 (EMS came with it), so I didn't read the notes. But I did update to the latest wizard. So, hopefully this answers my question.
