Default Short or long gears

I was wondering which would be better for a supercharger. I currently have 4.56 gears in my car (bought the car with them) and was wondering if it would be better to leave them in there because I can get to higher RPMs quicker which with my logic would make boost faster or go back with OEM. I know if I was T/C that I would want longer gears maybe longer then OEM so when I run at the track I can stay in 4th. Is the same true for a supercharger or is it better to have shorter gears.

Also if this gears don't serve any real purpose on the performance side of having a supercharger please state.
I'm looking for reasons to get rid of them. In HI it's fine since the highest speed limit is 55mph but once I go back home and I'm on I95 it's going to suck being at 5k rpms and only going 65 in 6 gear.lol.

In short stock gearing is best SC or Turbo. Unless you have some crazy 600-700hp beast then the taller 3.90. I’ve run 4.30 -4.44 and its cool for N/A and low boost SC, but beyond that 4.10 really is better performing overall. 4.56 is a little agressive for my taste in any configuration. But since you already have them, is it worth it to change? That’s up to you. Run with boost and see how you like it first. But i'm thinking in any boost set up 10psi or more, your 1st and 2nd gear will be pretty useless, you will just spin. Not ideal if your trying to maximize a 0-60 or 1/4 time.

Currently have a SOS kit on only 6lbs though. What I put in bold is what is persuading me to go with OEM gears. Not in the near future but eventually I would like to go with bigger fuel injectors and a stand alone to up the boost.

I am putting on a high boost SOS kit right now. 3.8" pulley with a 1200. Suggest you not only change gears but get a Puddy Mod Stage 2 differential rebuild. Puddy has been rebuilding diffs for years and is the man. He can be reached on this web site or email him at PuddyModRacing@Tampabay.rr.com. Tell him DaGou sent you and he might, just might, micro polish you gear set in the price of the rebuild.

I went to 3.9 gears. Look at it this way I will be increasing WHP by 70 or 80% and torque by 50%. I am changing my gear ratio by 5%. With the increase in power I am not going to feel going down to 3.9 and I will be able to stay in first and second gear longer. Second gear is most important for me since I Autocross. Also my highway speed will be at reduced RPM which will increase gas mileage and decrease noise. It is no brainer to get rid of those 4.56s and at least go to stock or my gear of choice 3.9s.

BTW what the fawk is that picture, tell me that is your girl licking your wheels...
