Default Showing Empty with at least 6 gallons of Gas

So the car has had less than 2 gallons for a while, maybe even a gallon for at least 3-4 months. It was reading correctly (or it appeard to go down normally) so I just threw in 5 gallons of Race gas and it is showing COMPLETELY empty, not even one bar. I took it out for a drive and even stood in my trunk and jumped up and down thinking maybe the fuel indicator was stuck, lol. No luck

So as some of you guys may have seen I did find some kind of a chipmunk/squirrel nest but it appeard to be really old. The gas gauge was working last month, and I think the nest on top of the fuel pump is just coincidence......

Any ideas on how to fix? I don't know how involved it is to switch the fuel indication unit etc.....

I could just keep filling it up but Race gas is expensive and I would prefer not to have the extra weight when racing.....

i use to have a similar problem. my ap1 would always read 3 bars low. even when i filled it up it would still say i was at 3/4 of a tank. when i put my walbro 255 fuel pump in, it magically fixed the problem. dont ask me how. idk if this could help in your situation but who knows.

I have had similar issues. It seems like the only fix is to pull it out/adjust the sending unit. If the problem proceeds, possibly purchase a new one

The Walbro and other fuel pump socks have been known to do this. They can hang up on the float. The OEM one works perfectly though.

I have an idea go to Honda hook up download the manual, and test the resistance of the sending unit wires when empty and full against the specs in the manual...... Or just guess and start replacing parts.......

I was thinking of maybe just removing the fuel pump and freeing up the leveler thing, probably caught up on the sock. I read in the manual though that when you remove the pump and disconnect the feed and return line you have to replace some kind of plastic clip and it can't be re-used? Am I reading that wrong?

I have seen this before with a Ap1 after having a supercharger installed . It turned out to be the pickup sock as stated above . If the oem unit is utilized then there should be no problem . They sure bite the big one to change though . Good luck !

Not if ur hard top with gutted soft top haha easy as pie, joey as long as they arent damaged u can most definitely reuse them.... just be patient and gentle on the clips, youll know if they are okay once u install..... it wont leak if they are okay hahaha

Fyi u don't have to be THAT gentle it is a car after all, push the line towards the fitting, squeeze both sides of the plastic tab and slowly wiggle/pull the line off.

Well being the car is gutted I had the fuel pump removed in under 5:00, lol. The leveler is moving free and clear but still shows empty...........

Oh well..................

I could do it by miles but with a 255lph fuel pump, ID1000 injectors and a bunch of runs at the track how am to guess how many miles in a full tank? You think 100 miles is a good estimate if I put 10 gallons of q16 in it?
