Default Skunk 2 turbo cams

I have been looking into installing a set of the Skunk 2 Stage 2 Turbo cams in my car. What do y'all think about them? They have a better lift and duration than the stock cams. The Skunk 2 Stage 2 Turbo cams are 251 Degree Duration with .504" Lift on the Intake Cam and 250 Degree Duration with .465 Lift on the exhaust cam both with a 0.000" Lash. OEM AP1 Cams Adv. duration: 295 / 309 Dur at 1mm: 247 / 243 Lift: 12.15mm / 11.1mm Lobe centerline: 98 deg ATDC / 100 deg BTDC. So would these make good power? My setup will be a custom built tubular sidewinder manifold with a 6262 .82 A/R ID1000 on E85 on around 13 psi.

I have heard that they suck. Can anyone explain to me why?

I used skunk2 cams when I was going all out na with itbs 13:1 comp blah blah blah.. And I must say that the cams not only lost power as compared to stock they felt like they were just way too aggressive. Vtec sounded awesome but when you're loosing upwards of 20whp it's just pathetic.

I just don't understand why a cam with higher lift and longer duration would lose power? The longer and wider the valve is open the more air you get in. That is what you need for FI. Right?

I think you would definately make some decent gains aslong as you are boosted, I imagine the valve over-lap duration will be reduced quite substantially with those cams..which means that you are creating higher cylinder pressures due to less boosted intake charge escaping through the open exhaust valves at the beggining of the intake stroke.
But, just save some money and buy some off-set woodruff keys and reduce the valve over-lap by 2 or 3 degree's on your stock cams and get similar results.
Have a look at Sideways' thread about cam timing.

He already has the cams. He has been sitting on them going back and forth on installing them... No money to be saved.
