Solid Rear End Discussion
Bringing it back from the dead. Still havnt pulled the trigger on either setup but I have each core. I have a 91 Super Coupe 8.8" Diff AND a old bronco solid 9" so I'm not sure what I'm going to do. This is how I look at it...
The 8.8" full blown kit is $3500... Then another $500 to build the diff itself. So $4000 for a stout but "slower" IRS system.
Now going with the 9" it saves me on the expensive DSS axels. So figuring $1000 to build the 9" (currently has disc brakes) rear shocks and the 4 link kit can be had for $700. $500 for an aluminum drive shaft. That leaves $1800 in fabrication costs before it costs more than the IRS 8.8". Plus I'm good friends with a fabricator who does everything under the sun so costs there won't be to wild.
