SOS Kit Owners
So... I broke the oil drain plug on the 1200 SC. There weren't any torque settings specified in the instructions or on the tag supplied with the SC. The plug threads weren't even tight; I was able to unscrew it by hand after the head sheared off due to pressure against the crush washer. Yay. Anybody know where I can find a drain plug for a SC on a weekend in Atlanta?

Holy broken drain plugs batman!!
I have no idea, they look different from the one on the comptech kits. I would just call SOS tomorrow morning. I am sure they could put you in the right direction.
Are you sure that is the drain? because the one on the comptech kit is way bigger. I guess it would explain why you guys broke them though. You could always just bring the broken plug to the hardware store and try to match it up.

That piece is actually a plug for one of 2 possible oil feed ports on the unit, S2K's use the other side so you gave to seal one side up.
the 3 drain ports are at the bottom and are 3/8" NPT. You can see 2 of them in the pic on the right side. Will just call SOS to confirm.
For all future installers it really doesn't take much to snap this piece, I had my torque wrench set at 9ftb lbs and it was too much for it.

I hate brass! I am really surprised it uses a brass plug with a copper crush washer. The metals are very close to the same softness and getting it to seal just right would require a very specific torque setting.

thats ok, the SL's just break the bearings and gears
j/k
SOS gave me a direct # for Paxton , the tech told me he was almost positive the plug is a 3/8" - 16 pitch bolt, so I can get one at the hardware store. Im gonna bring the blower with me just in case.

Oh well. At least with brass you know you aren't going to break anything besides the brass parts.
That's exactly what I did - bought a 3/8-16 stainless bolt at Lowe's. Problem is that the counterbore is so tight you can't get a wrench in to tighten it. So I used a brass sleeve (also from Lowe's) to space it out a bit. I'll find pics for you.
As you can see from the pics, this brass fitting has an extremely thin wall where the bolt head connects to the shaft. Just a compromised design...
