Default SOS modifications - CAI & 3.4" pulley

Been busy in the garage these last 2 nights.. I wasnt able to get my 3.8" pulley off as easy as the 4.4". so the whole damn S/C & brackets had to come off. A pulley puller made short work of it on the work bench..

After reading Torque Obsessed's thread on a CAI I decided to make one too, slightly different though. The routing is similar to an AEM CAI. Everything fit pretty nice, a few zip ties and extra worm clamp keeps it from rubbing on anything.

Went out do get some logs so I can continue my eTune. With the 3.4" pulley I hit 13.5psi @ 8500rpm, 12.5 at 8000rpm. This was in 3rd gear on a brand new belt, so tomorrow when I tighten it Im guessing it will be 13psi right at 8000. 14psi in 4th gear.

I also vented my diverter valve to atmosphere, but it kind of noisy where I have it positioned, might have to move it.

When I was turbo I pulled the AC lines out of the car with the intent of getting the doolots kit. I had a 14" slim fan for the AC, but i took it out to make room for the CAI. When I get around to reinstalling the AC this fall I will use a 10" fan.

lol I just bought a 10" and 13" slim fans from summit racing tonight since during making everything up we were like...nope not going to fit. Also We will be welding up all the piping that you can see and adding a bracket to help hold it up.

What catch can is that I need one that wont break the bank. Also I can't find you thread on the adapter for the Valve Cover PVC what size is it.

Yeah a bracket would be a good idea. The NA CAI has one.
Catch can is a Saikou Michi, $125 shipped, the guy will use whatever size inlets & breather you want. Mine has two .5" inlets & a 1.25" breather opening.
The adapter for the PCV port is an M14x1.5 to -8an, then a -8an 90 degree hose barb. The filters are AIRAID brand from Summit Racing.

Excellent work! I finalized mine as well, but your solution is probably what I had envisioned ideally. Perhaps I'll redo mine. I assume the stock fan can't be retained to accommodate the piping? Care to share the cost of piping and source?

Sorry to hi-jack your thread, but here's my finished solution for now. I placed a fan in front of my bumper during the development and came to the conclusion that more air was coming in from the side of the radiator than from the AUT cooling plate duct (at least with the stock air guide still in place). I'm sure if I removed the stock air guide, more air would come in via the AUT duct, but I decided to leave the stock guide in place to force the air through the radiator and our heat exchanger.

With that said, I was rather surprised how effective a flexible HVAC duct was at directing air so I decided to use one to direct some additional cool air to the filter since I was too lazy to think of a way to completely seal the filter in an enclosure like the K&N FPIK. The duct grabs air where your filter is essentially located. I even decided to add some thermal insulating cool tape on the back of the heat shield, and painted the aluminum black to go with the SOS theme If I decide to stick with this solution, I'll order up some black hosing to replace the shiny stuff.

I got the piping & couplers at siliconeintakes.com

(2) 2ft 90 degree 3.5" aluminum bends
(1) 90 degree 3.5" silicone coupler
(1) straight 3.5" silicone coupler
(5) 3.5" t bolt clamps

about $100 worth of parts

Nice work guys! I ran the CAI for my Greddy kit the same as Deception did for his SOS. If I hadn't already had a big damn hole in the fender I'd have gone that route again with the SC.

I'm very curious to see what happens when you get to the dyno. My suspicion is that my CAI didn't really make power. Rather, the filter box I had previously (similar to JawKnee's) was probably restricting power by blocking one side of the filter. I'm looking forward to seeing how yours does.
