SoS S2 Issues Help
Is the idle AF ratio very rich? Should be able to see it in datalog w/ flashpro. I'd say you go down the list of basics. Proper voltage? Check w/ a multimeter. No codes thrown? Can you keep the car running by opening the throttle a bit? What's the AF ratio? Oil pressure good? Maybe if everything checks out doesn't hurt to do a compression test..? If that's ok I'd consider a leakdown.. Honestly so many little things to check. Dig around see if there is any wiring that's been cut/modified..?
Multimeter was my next step. Stepping on the accelerator didn't result in the throttle opening when it was idling poorly. DBW issues. Flashing from base tune to the Dyno tune showed it wasn't tuning related.
Compression was uniform and I tested the engine last Saturday so while it wasn't a test it sounded similar.
Oil was at the right level, but I didn't get oil pressure issues.
Funny enough not setting a CEL for this type of issue let me know if was an issue that wasn't monitored by sensors. I don't know why I thought DBW cars had fuel pressure sensors but we should install fuel pressure gauges at least.
So crank, start, and poor running without a cel. Test using starter fluid to rule out ignition quick. Then test for fuel volume.
I do hope this helps someone in the future.
Good job man troubleshooting that! Ya always good to check the "basics" at first.. fuel/spark.
I guess it just happened to crap out after you got it? Bad luck but nice work fixing it. Things like this are why I'm an avid DIYer.
There's been a few other questionable things I have found but ironing out problems is usually easy when I have the time.
I haven't had a Supercharged DBW car before so some of these little things are a bit different but it's still basic troubleshooting. Now I just need to datalog to make sure the tune isn't covering up for the previous subpar install.
