Default SOS supercharger

A friend of mine is thinking of putting SOS supercharger on his 08. I have been looking into this a little bit. I am just wondering even if you do things right, would a supercharger in theory overwork your engine therefore reduce the engine life. Do these supercharger tend to last 20,000 miles or so if you drive them hard? Then what you rebuilt the supercharger? how much does it cost to rebuilt the supercharger in general. Do you have to rebuild your engine too.

So, on the 06-08, the base kit is about 8psi I believe.

Yes, it works your engine and drive-train harder. Yes, it will theoretically reduce engine life. But, there are people that have had superchargers on their cars here for 10 years. People here have put superchargers on their cars after they reach 100K miles.

The superchargers do need rebuilds every so often...I hear it's less than $1K. The engine would need a rebuild if the compression goes. It happens but it's not THAT common...definitely less common than other cars of the same age and mileage.

So if you were to guess, how long would the supercharger last with spirited driving (non track or racing) before it needs rebuild? 30,000 miles

I had to sell the car 6 months ago but I beat the shit outta mine for 22,000 miles and no problems at all. SOS kit 8.5lbs and Hondata reflash is the way to go for peace of mind and about 350whp.

The one I am looking to buy has SOS stage 1 on it, has about 10,000 miles. I am debating if I should just take it out and return its to stock. I just like the feel of stock more. Just me.

As a stage 1 owner, the feel of the car is very similar to stock...just 60% more powerful.

I'd keep it in. That's just me. Of course, the stock S2000 is a blast, but after 15K on my SOS S1 I wouldn't give it up.
