Default Spark Plug suggestions for Turbo setup

Hey guys, I have seen this topic discussed 1,000 times for SC'd cars, but I haven't seen anything for turbo setups. Also, the wonderful search is down. Let me know what you guys suggest. Thanks -Michael.

Copper NGKs. Coldness depending on power.

From nibble:

I was researching through NGK and other site, I found that 7173 is 1 step colder than our stock. according to their web site, you should increase as per 75 to 100 hp increase. notice that our OEM plugs are 1 step colder to begin with. Civic's heat rating is 6.

NGK for OEM 2000
part# PFR7G-11S, Stock# 7772. Platinum tip, 14mm, 3/4" reach, 5/8" Hex. heat Rating: 7, Gap 1.1mm (.044")

NGK for 1step colder
part# R5672A-8, Stock# 7173. 14mm, 3/4" reach, 5/8" hex, heat Rating: 8

NGK for 2step colder
part# R5672A-9, Stock# 7405. 14mm, 3/4" reach, 5/8" hex, heat Rating: 9

I hope someone else can confirm the information I have. also, the gap, I was told to have it between .028 to .030.

cheers,

Eugene, thanks for the info it was very helpful . Sorry to hear about your car at dyno day, but i'm sure it will be better then ever once its done. One last question. I am going to be running a lovefab GT1 kit, most likely at 8psi for 300~350whp, should I go with 1 step colder with the 7173's or 2 steps colder with the 7405's? Seems like its borderline for that amount of power.

No problem, tell me when you go tune! We'll get Giles down again and maybe get mine done too if my car is ready by then.

As for the spark plug yeah it's really boarderline why don't you get the ones that are 2steps colder to be safe but only a set or two to get you through the tune. Then when you're all ready you can inspect them and judging on your power output, you can switch to 1step colder or continue to use the 2step colder plugs.

That sounds good to me . I should have my turbo kit here by the end of december and it will probably take me a week to install because i'm doing it myself. So, i'll hopefully be ready for a tune by the first week in January.

Haha damn you're going to be ahead of me. I'm waiting on my damn engine probably going to take another 2 months, so slow! Good luck with the install! It took me about 3 days, working all day by myself to get mine in.

I agree with ideugene. since changing to NGK 7173, my 8,000 rpm bog went away. once I tune it, I'm planning to go with 7405. only draw back is you will have to change it every so often.
