Default stat sync OFF . help!

editing first post!

got the ecu to connect , ended up being a computer driver issue

My car will not start with the AEM plugged in, but will start with Stock ECU right away

My battery voltage seems to be fine, goes from like 14 and stays around there until like after 10seconds of cranking

the car is getting fuel, but no spark it seems. STAT SYNC is OFF . i've read this is a Crank position sensor or possibly a Cam sensor issue. How do i test this to make sure that these sensors are working?

i had the cam sensors off because i took the valve cover off for powdercoating but i did not damage them at all and they seem to install back properly.

thank you for the help!

also thank you to Kyle, "herecomestheboost" for helping me out greatly and sending me a map to use

here are some pictures i took for believe errors perhaps

Do you have any other USB devices that you can try to connect to your laptop? Also, USB has its own tree in device manager; simply expand the Universal Serial Bus (USB) tree.

Hey dbo. Scotty at ballistic was recently having trouble connecting my aem series 2 to his laptop as well.

he battled it for days, on many machines but finally got it to connect to an older laptop that hasn't had a recent Windows update.

Do u have an older machine or can you rollback to a previous restore point on your machine and try again?

good luck

i have vista. purchasing a new laptop is an option however i'd like to be a last resort thing. i don't really use the computer much other than for web browsing. i also may have access to a windows7 computer if it will be easier. i've read that vista sucks for trying to do this.

When i tried with my talon using DSMLink roughly 3 years ago i had the same problems . I Cannot get the laptop to connect with the usb cord. i have a usb cord, and i also have a usb to serial adapter. I believe this is a computer problem and not a cable/aem problem. when i plug in the usb cord i do not receive a "new device plugged in" or whatever notification.

on dsm tuners i found:

"Plug in your USB cable, turn the ignition on, and open up AEMPro. Go to ECU --> Connection Port. Make sure it's set to Serial (even if you're using a USB adapter) and make sure that you've selected the correct COM port from the drop-down list (pick the one that lists your USB-Serial adapter). Then, go to ECU --> Connect.

If this still doesn't work, with the adapter still plugged in, go to Device Manager (under Control Panel, or shortcut is Windows Key + Pause/Break key). Find the USB adapter in the list under Ports - Com & LPT and double-click on it. Go to the Port Settings tab and change the Bits Per Second value from 9600 to 4800, click OK and close Device Manager. Try the above connection process again."

for whatever reason under my device manager, PORTS is not a listed option in the drop downs.

Can someone guide me thru on how to do this?

I am also posting this because my car is 40minutes from my house, and i don't have internet access there so i have to create the thread here and then use my phone for internet/tapatalk so it sucks.

if someone can help me set up the com ports/usb i can go to my car and try everything and report back then.

this is the last thing i have to do for my car and is a super lame drawback.

thanks for the help anyone
It does sound like it could be a hardware problem but are you using AEM pro or AEM Tuner? Sounds like AEM Pro from what you are saying, ECU--->Connection port is only on pro and not tuner, its in under ecu-connection preferences. I'm guessing you are not on a Series 1 ECU So make sure you are using AEM Tuner. I know some people have had issues with specific Serial to USB adapters. I've always used keyspan and never had an issues.

im using aemtuner with the most recent update. When I plug in the USB cord I am not getting a "device found" or even an error for the device in the status bar or when im in the device window from control panel. Also tried restarting several times. I believe the driver is installed when you download aemtuner correct ?
I went to try my windows 7 but I forgot to download tuner on that computer and it wouldnt read from my flashdrive. Ill try it again asap and report back.

I might have been reading troubleshooting stuff for aempro which is why I was so confused lol

If this does not work, I can just bring the ecu to my tuner and hook it up to 12v and he can upload a Map that way correct ? Id hate to have him come here/pay for him to come here

Do any usb devices work on your computer? Is this the only one you are having issues with?

Not sure if this helps, but my tuner said that the USB cable that comes with the AEM sucks. He had a different cable that he used.

i used a different computer with windows7 and it connected perfectly fine first time. i believe it was just my computer.

i followed the DIY on here that another member created but when i went to upload it would not flash the ecu because the breakpoints were incorrect?

i then took the 750cc supercharged map and modified it to my car but it would not start.

does anyone have a basemap for:

1000cc ID 43.5 base
4bar omni

that will start the car and make it driveable? I guess i can just swap the injectors and map and put the stock ecu back in but that would be a PITA

I would also just tow the car, but i would have to have my car tow'd to get my exhaust finished, and then towed again to the tuner without a map
