Default Stevens2000ap1 turbo project!

Hi s2ki folks! I've been there for a while and I dont post stuff a lot and I though may be interesting for some to see what I've done so far with my car.

I bought this car 2 years ago with the intention of keeping it stock... yaaa right -_- As things goes on I started added parts to make this car drive and look like I wanted it to be.

I put back Oem ap2v2 wheel on it instead of the fake wheels it had. Removed the eiback kit it had to put some DGR full coilovers, added a strut bar, good tires ap2 transmission, 4.30 gear, full catback comptech, CF hood, CF trunk CF mirror cover CF cooling plate, a good head unit, some speakers and a custom box for 2 8 inches woofers. Like I said I wanted to keep the car stock at first. But finally I decided to go big since I bought a Audi s4 twin turbo as a daily/winter car I felt like my summer car was REALLY SLOW.

So this said let show you a couple of picture first what the car looked like when i got it

Now you guys have an idea what my car looks like and yes I'm from quebec. Some of you guys will notice my licence plate eheh

3 months ago I started build up a turbo kit for the s2000, I'm really use to boosted car, I had a lot in the past and I street tune cars for 8 years, I know a dyno give you a number but I always had success street tuning for my cars and customers car for a long time, and never had issue breaking a motor or so because of tuning.

So I wanted to buy something no so expensive so I ordered some parts off ebay, some locally and some I just had them laying around.

So here is my Setup:

-EMUSA Cast manifold ( had it machined with 5 degree angle for clearance issue )
-EMUSA 38mm wastegate
-EMUSA blow off valve
-Custom 2.5inch piping
-EMUSA intercooler
-3 ply intercooler boot
-T-clamps
-2.5 Inch downpipe
-Wastegate screamer pipe
-550cc Low imp dsm injectors with resistor box
-Doctronic ProEcu-K
-Holset Hx35 turbo with a custom machined AR63 exhaust housing
-Custom oil feed and return line
-Oil filter Relocator kit
-Walbro 255LPH fuel pump
-Srt4 boost gauge
-AEM wideband

So far thats is what I used to build my setup and its running well so far, Unfortunately I'm maxing out the 550cc's 100% duty cycle at 8 pounds of boost, getting and AF of 11.9 in the high rpm area. I'm worried about running so high duty cycle so I'll be trying my second set of injectors I already have in hand which are PTE 780cc and see how much boost I can reach to get a 80 to 90% duty cycle.

Here goes a couple pictures

I had a little issue with my oil relocator kit, which for some unknowed reason break leading to a 0psi oil pressure on idle... Hopefully only 1 rod bearing damaged so I polished the crank and replaced the 4 rod bearing with Clevite HXK bearings. It work fine! The car was only idling its not like if I was driving it insanely ahah

Next thing I want is raise the boost, install my 780cc injectors, change my oil relocator plate on the engine for the canton 90 degree one. Build a 4inch intake for my air filter, and retune with the larger injectors of course!

Total cost of the build is : 4000 canadian $$$$$

Let me know your comments and opinion about my build.

There's some ebay parts I wouldnt trust. I would get a better wastegate and grab some id1000 injectors.

Great budget built. I use the emusa wastegate on my integra at made 428 hp. And 281 tq. It held boost just fine. I would go with id1000 injector. What standalone system and fuel pump?

@Chubbys2k

I've never had any issue with EMUSA manifold , wastegate, bov and intercooler in the past. Most important parts like turbo injector, ECU are good brand which will keep me away of trouble.

For the Id1000 injectors yes would be great by I already have some 780's here from a past project.

@Hershey

Thanks, I'm using Doctronic Pro-Ecu-K, I've been the first to run this ecu on an s2000 in the whole Quebec, It has just been release couple months ago and there is only 1 authorise deal in quebec which sold me the first unit!

It's basicly a bolt on K serie ecu that doesnt need any modification to any s2000 sensors and everything works like a charm!

For the fuel pump I'm running the stock pump, will be installing the walbro at the same time ill find some spare time to install my 780's injectors

But why not buy a used tial wg for cheap? I would just be worried about the $50 wg giving out when your getting on it. But if you haven't had problems in the past, thats cool.

Well to be honest, I'm not a really big fan of internal wastegate and I used a custom housing for my turbo to have a smaller AR than the stock 1.36ar on the hx35.

External wastegate are boost stable and easy to change a spring to set a different psi which is what I will do with time to increase power.

Well, I have 2 EMUSA wastegate and to be honest they are not cheap shit like the JDM or no name ebay crappy brand. EMUSA have different quality standard I guess, because I remember in the past having loose shaft issue with the crappy 50$ ebay wastegate. A tial is great but the EMUSA do the job and dont forget I'm in Canada....Here EVERYTHING is expensive related to cars..

A Used Tial wastegate with no extra spring no hardware and gasket is sold around 200$ canadian dollars. You guys in US can probly buy a brand new one for less than that.

A new 38mm tial mvs gate is around 340 CAD.

Just make sure you set a boost cut.
