Default Stock plugs with Comptech SC

Guys - I'm just coming to the end of my Comptech super charger install. It includes the after cooler package.

There is a set if Iridium plugs in the package but I'm reluctant to use them due to the horror stories on here of them disintegrating. Can I continue to use the stock plugs?

Gettting hold of decent copper plugs over in the UK is a lot harder than the US.

From what I have been told by a reputable FI guy, NEVER ever use the denso iridiums for the tips can cause hell in the engine, NGKs are what i have been told by alot of the pros, and you want to run 1 step colder than stock heat range for safety. PROS- please correct if im wrong in any part here.

I was coming to that conclusion.
You guys have it good
$2.24 for a NGK 7173, which we can't get in the UK.
Next nearest is $15 over

Incorrect gapping or pre-ignition are the main cause of iridium plugs going bad .

There are many of us running them with a good tune and no problem. Why do people continue to blame the plugs?

thanks Sideways always good to see the guru pitching in!
Another few questions for you guys!
The ever popular NGK 7173's have no resistor, anyone had any issues with that?
Any reason why I can't regap the stock ones? If so to what gap?
Or can I just fit the stock Comptech with AC and fire it up with the OEM plugs at the stock gap?

They should work fine.

NGK 7173 for $1.88 a piece, change at oil changes or in my case 5000 miles max.

I'm using the same NGKs with my Comptech.

I've also used the Iridiums before (installed them during the SC install). They worked fine and I didn't have any real problems with them other than the price per spark plug.

I forgot to mention this in my earlier post, but I've personally tried both the resistor (7173) and non-resistor (BKR7E) type NGK plugs. After running around for a couple thousand miles on both types, I can honestly say that I didn't notice a difference with either of them.

I ran the OEM plugs with my CT SC w/AC for almost a year with no problems. I have just recently switched to the NGK 7173's. I don't notice any difference. My dyno results were 3 WHP less, but then that is within dyno error range and I have bigger wheels and tires now. I believe those will make a difference as well.
