Default Strange Behavior After "Fix"

There is some interesting resulting from a "fix" that a shop did to fix my stalling issue.

The car idles at roughly 1.1K RPMs. It drives okay, but I've noticed that when I let off the gas, the RPMs don't drop normally while in gear and if is in neutral RPMs will raise to about 2.3K-2.5K RPMs. They didn't explain to me what they did to fix my stalling issue. He mentioned something about a "throttle motor"? I have no idea what he's talking about.

Any ideas to what could cause the RPMs to rise to above 2K RPMs while in neutral? I noticed that if I come to a stop they will drop to 1.1K or so. I'll try and get a video tomorrow of what is happening.

What exactly was happening before this fix you got ? Where did you take it ? I assume not a Honda dealer. There are more then a couple of things that could cause this erratic idle issue you have now. Not to mention the stalling issue that is illegibly fixed. You may need to break out the Helms Manual and do some trouble shooting.

I'm not a mechanic and i am sure others on here may have better imput but this thought crosssed my mind Do you have an after market throttle body? Sometimes the plate can stick causing the TB not to close all the way and a fluctuation in rpms.

Here is the thread going to the original issue:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry19747028

I have an Emanage and before you all go and say "buy an AEM" I don't have money for it and Emanage does what I need it to since I'm only pushing 8PSI.

I don't have an aftermarket TB. Everything in the car is OEM except of course the Greddy kit. lol I think he said something about the throttle cable and motor? Whatever that is. I don't know what he did but it idles at around 1.1K and when it's moving and the car is in neutral it'll go up to 2.5K. It's weird. I'll try and get a video.

Okay after reading the thread you posted in the link, that throws out all my ideas you need to get your tune looked at by someone who knows what they are doing. Bringing it to a auto shop to fix the stalling issue when your car isn't properly tuned probably isn't a good idea. I think you should go with Twizted's theory about the fuel trims he is a very well know tuner here on the East Coast. If you think about it, what he says makes sense with the stalling issues and the erratic idle your having.

I brought it to the shop that tuned my car. So I didn't just bring it to ANY shop. The idling wasn't erratic before. It is now, stall issue is gone.

Ahhhh okay when you mention he did something with the " Throttle Motor " I assumed you took it to some auto shop. Not really sure what he means by throttle motor ? I feel bad for you Tom I feel like this tuner your going to isn't taking car of your car the way he should. I mean its not a complicated setup you have I knew a guy who had the same thing. His car ran great I think he said even better then stock after his tune. Have you considered going else where ?

I'm saving up to see if I can get a tune at Church's. But their expensive and far. We'll have to see what he says about it.
