Default Supercharged: AFRs Vary by Gear?

In short, I think I've noticed that my WOT AFRs are a little leaner (maybe 0.3?) though still safe, in say 2nd gear relative to say 4th gear. Similarly, 6th gear would be a little richer than 4th gear. Is this normal? I'd say I was probably observing this between 5k and 6k; perhaps it's just easiest to go WOT during that RPM range.

Similarly, are both scenarios/gear equally important in terms of monitoring AFRs, or does one pay more attention to the higher loading gear? In other words, if one did not want to go leaner than 12.5, would you discount a 13.0 in 2nd gear if you saw 12.0 in 4th gear?

Thanks!

This is normal Jhonny, its based on load, the motor when loaded wont pull in the air it would in a easier gear... so the taller gears will show a richer afr. When I look at my tune I use 2/3/4/5th/6th for reference and get a good grasp of where my average is. I will typically tune my pre vtec in the taller gears 4th/5th/6th. And vtec in 2nd/3rd. Run a good lean best in 2/3rd gear and you know it will be a safe tune. Mid to high 12's pre vtec in 4th gear and 11.5 to low 12's up top is a great target for out SC's.

Got it. I assumed it was normal, but was just curious about the methodology in tuning/monitoring.

In any event, check this out:

* may want to forward to around the 16sec mark

It was a 4th gear pull, from around 4k, going up a pretty decent hill. Temp was upper 40s, but felt a lot cooler to me. I think the peak boost on my gauge was 6.7 for this run.

Looks good man! Really a great afr considering what you have to tune with.

Yeah it was cooler this weekend and I was making 0.5-.07 more psi then typical also, car felt extra strong and responsive. Kind of neat you can make and extra free 10whp just from the temp when FI. Wont notice shit N/A

You find a 7psi pulley yet?
