Supercharged S2k
Hey all!
Well I just sold my 05 RSX Type S and I'm looking to for an upgrade in the somewhat near future. My wife and I work in the same part of town so we can carpool and I'm in no rush to buy a car.
I've always wanted a sc'ed AP2 S2000 and I've been looking at the for sale thread for a few weeks. I have a few questions for ya'll..
1) how does the sc'er affect reliability?
2) would ya'll buy one already supercharged or do it yourself?
3) Am I nuts to buy a heavily modded car like that?
all input is appreciated!!!

1. Doesn't as long as it's tuned correctly and not overboosted
2. DIY, you dont know whats been really done to the car before hand
3. Eh, no...but if you're going to buy a heavily modded s2k...take it to a shop and have it inspected thoroughly before hand.
I plan on s/cing mine in the future...just want to get the car paid off first (at my current rate, it will be in 19 months).

1. More parts, more power - it's relatively reliable but there is always a risk.
2. I bought mine already done. Probably cost me more in the long run because I had to correct numerous issues. If you get one that has been done the right way you can save some money though. Live and learn, I'll never buy a car sight unseen again.
3. Yes and no. Common sense and practicality would say not to do it, but what fun is that?

1) doesnt affect at all. depending on what s/c you buy you can run the car without the use of the s/c belt. i had to do this when my belt went boom.
2) i would DIY. that way you know you did it right and no corners were cut.
3) i personally woundnt want to buy a modded car but thats just my opinion.

1. Reliable. Make sure it's tuned right.
2. I recommend DIY. You get the satisfaction of knowing you installed the SC.
3. I wouldn't buy a modded car. Get a stock one and install mods yourself.

You're not nuts, just make sure you've done plenty of research on FI before you buy so you know what you're getting.
If you're not really good at inspecting cars take it to a decent tuner for a pre-purchase inspection. I'd recommend getting the tune checked/adjusted by a tuner you trust after you buy.

a stock boosted supercharged s2k isn't too heavily modified, as long as stock boost/good afr, no oil leaks, and a good clutch, it'd be good enough for me. that's also assuming you know what you're dealing with too though (turbochargers are however another story as superchargers are significantly less problematic).
