Default Supercharged S2k. Stock Cat or HFC?

I am keeping the stock exhaust.

Is a 63mm berk HFC going to make a diff over the stock cat?

Looks like Berk is back ordered on their HFC's for a while and I have my car going under the knife for the blower kit this week.

Will the berg HFC make a big gain over my stock cat on a stock exhaust?

I'm running the SOS 1200 kit will 3.4" pulley. I was hoping for 400whp

Get a test pipe, unless you consider the HFC a disposable item depending on driving habits. Think about how much cfm at what temperature your pushing at 400whp through a 2.5" pipe. Get it for emissions or the smell, but understand it's not a slap it on and forget about it item.

cant do stock cat, its too restricted to lower the vtec.

im running a HFC. berk 63 mm. I havent checked the inside to see if its holding up from the heat. I hate the smell of the testpipe but that might be the best option as far as free flowing.

Ya I'm getting it for a the smell and the black bumper. I can't live with those anymore.

if your tune is good you will not get the black bumper

the hfc Will melt over time and you will not meet your 400whp goal

My tune is "good" and my back end still gets black (though my car is BB so it isn't noticeable). I'm also SC'd at 400 whp, stock exhaust with test pipe. I can't speak for how much power I'd lose with a HFC. I used to run the 63mm Berk HFC but changed to the test pipe when I upped the boost from 7 to 16 psi. I was concerned about the cat separating while I had it and didn't want to risk it after going higher boost.

If you go cat, go 63mm HFC from Berk. Worst case it will separate somewhere down the line. I'd keep your test pipe as a backup.

Mine didn't last over a year, but it was daily driven with frequent trips to 9k at 13 psi.

edit: My turner told me this would happen and will continue to happen. He then reminded me why OEM cats cost so much money. Event the aftermarket ceramics will fall apart. If you dead set on it, try to move the cat down where the exhaust has cooled and the velocity has slowed.

If your FI, you need a TP. Picture above proves it. Get a proper fuel tune and you can reduce some of the emissions and carbon build up on the rear end, but its one of the trade off in going FI. You’re using x2+ the fuel, so you have to consider there will be more exhaust as a result.

Well, you could try to put high flow cats on after the split. By that time the heat and velocity have slowed down quite a bit and you may not take the HP hit. I was thinking about this cause my clothes always smell after I ride in the S. It's not so nice for date night or driving around with the woman.
