Default Supercharger Problem

started a couple days ago. just normal in-town driving, i was getting a little hesitation during 3rd gear acceleration from a stop. very non-aggressive driving. just took it for a ride this evening, and now it completely bogs out. it can be 3rd, 4th, or 5th; normal accelerating or just maintaining speed now. all of a sudden, i can floor it and it goes nowhere.

i have to downshift to get it going, again. during the home stretch, i stayed in 4th at around 3500 and it seemed fine. unfortunately, i like to stay around 2000-2500. is it just a simple matter of running too rich down low? it's not tuned. they had to turn the comptech fpr the whole way down just to get a 12.4 afr at redline. it's really weird that it was fine for a week and a half though. ecu is "correcting", maybe?

Is your air filter clean?

I had a similar exp. with my comptech kit it turned out I was running rich down low. I subtracted some fuel using a VAFCII and the car runs like a champ. You should consider a wideband to monitor your car.

Yep a wide band to monitor your afr is a key thing to have with this kit. its common that you will need to make some adjustments yourself on the street depending on the temperature outside, especially if you are running allot of fuel pressure to make safe up top, if its hot outside, that and the fact that you don't have an A/C to help regulate your intake temp, can make your fuel pressure spike over proper atomization point and cause strange running/hiccups/idle surge at times. Also its common in the way that these CT fpr's ramp up fuel, that run notoriously rich pre vtec and you will bog. if your running 12.4 up top in vtec, then you are likely seeing high 10's pre vtec which sucks. A vafc will be a simple affordable way for you to maximize your tune and give you some more low end power and response. But you need the wideband to be able to verify this and make your own corrections as needed.

i could see something being broken, since i ran ~500 miles without a bypass/blowoff valve. brand new air filter. i guess the biggest question is should i take it to my local honda dealer or my tuner?

I had the same (or very similar) problem shortly after my Comptech kit was installed. Turns out it was one of the connections for the ESM (where the ESM was tapped into the ECU wiring harness).

The piggyback solderless crimp connectors that come with the kit kinda suck. The ESM should really be soldered in, mine was not. I was able to mess with the connections and get my car running.

Hope this helps

yeah, i think you had a thread open about that. i thought of that, too.

my shop just told me to bring it in. they said since i wasn't getting a cel it's most likely something mechanical. they'll play around with it and figure it out, i'm sure. i'll post once they let me know. thanks, guys.

^^^ you didn’t mention getting a cel. Before you spend money at the shop, I would get the code from your local parts store. They can check it for you. Post back and let’s see if we can narrow it down. From your description, my guess is its a misfire code and is related to your fueling, either too rich, or your fuel pressure is all jacked up and needs a simple adjustment. You can spend allot of money with a mechanic that doesnt have direct experience with running this kit, there are corks to look for and many of us have been through most of them.
