I heard superchargers hum even when you are'nt VTEC'k. Is that true? Thinking about adding one to my 04 S2000 and any advice, pros, cons, maintenance requirements, your personal experience etc. is greatlt appreciated.

More like gear lash whining, but I love it I can be heard from blocks away, almost sounds like your drive belt isn't tight enough

Is that sound during high revs or anytime? What kind of SC do you have and did you install it or have a mechanic do it? Just wondering about the difficulty level for someone who is handy but not necessarily a mechanic?

I get the gear lash sound at idle, I double checked everything & checked with my tuner. It is what a S/C does. The whistle I get during acceleration, but not so much at cruising speed...maybe a little. I guess that depends upon your exhaust and stereo. You also get a little blow-off sound at your shift points.

Ride in one...or better yet...drive one. It will change your mind.

Supercharger whine is just at idle and a couple grand above idle. That's the charm of having one. That whine is unmistakable as you roll into the parking lot.

I installed it all myself:
