Default supercharging

In september when I get my refund check from school I'm going to have $3000 left over to spend on my car. I drive it every day and it has 104,000 miles on it. I dont have the money for a trans and rear end and a built motor right now. So I think supercharging is the way to go. Whats the most complete kit there is comptech or vortech? Also I'm gonna wait and look around for a used one, about what should I pay?

Also I plan on running around 10 pounds of boost. with just high miles it there anything I need to do to make sure its safe? for example forged pistions or somthing? My cuz is a honda mic. and Hes going to help me put it on and isn't charging anything. Also the previous owner claimed he put a staged 2 clutch in when he put a new clutch in it 3 months ago. it was his wifes DD car so it was babyed. he claimed he put the stage 2 in because it would hold up better in traffic. (they lived in a big city)

any FI will stress the tranny/rear end. its how you drive and shift that will ultimately determine the life of those parts.

stage 2 clutch, what brand?

VT and CT kits can be had for around 3k used with aftercoolers. that + emu + injectors + tune would be fun. i personaly would go aem ems over emu, but price may be a concern.

good luck

the problem is people dont realize, or dont want to admit, there are extras that always come up. might be 200 here 300 there, but it adds up.

the used kits are about 3k complete. FMU stock injectors stock boost 5-7psi. i personally wouldnt go any higher then that on a fmu and stock injectors.

u said 10psi, so thats where the extras come in.

if u want more then 400 whp, then hell yeah save up for mase kit. if you think u will be happy with 280-350whp, then VT it up.

i started at 300, then went to 330, then 350, then 365, and now am trying to get 380+. ITS ADDICTIVE.

mase kit, in that case you'll need 8 grand. theres no way your going to buy a sc kit, have it installed and tuned for 3 grand. like someone already said, 5 grand is about right for a used sc installed and tuned.

I just did exactly what you want to do. I paid 1600 for a used comptech kit with aftercooler. The blower needed to be rebuilt. I was told 916.00. I thought what a great deal. I sent the blower back and paxton said 1100.00. Paxton then called and said he had some good news and bad news. The bad news first the shaft was too bent to rebuid the blower. The good news since they were discontinuing the nove 1000, they had another brand new blower i could buy for the same price as the rebuild. So 1300 plus 1600=2900 with new blower i'm thinking im in the house. Act clutch 600 plus install 600 another 1200. Now Im at 4100, but remember the kit is still not installed on the car. 1200 for kit installation. I could have installed myself, but since it was a used kit, I wanted a professional to install so they could inspect all parts and order anything that needed to be replace. I received the bill and wow 995.00 of missing or parts that nedded to be replaced. Total cost 5000.00 I am pretty happy though because that was everything including 4 dyno pulls 2 before and 2 after plus tunning. My point is like the guys are saying whatever you think is the cost add 2000. Good luck HC
